In general, girls like guys who care enough to have a hairstyle.
If you take the time to get highlights, most will be intrigued by the fact that you have a sense of style.

Well if it looks good on you then try it, but if your hair is better off just brown, then stay that way. Listen to your instincts. Well I think it's hot.

It's kinda preppy but on some guys it looks really nice. My advice would be if you like it then do it. If you are trying to impress a certain girl, ask yourself if you think she would like it.
I'm not one to tell people to change themselves in order to be what other people want them to be, but you wouldn't listen to me if I said that ;)
