I ave read some research tht does indicate this.. and personally i agree..but at the same time i do beleive tht true closeness takes mo than signs of affection.. it requires understanding each other, being there for each other .. in essence.. it stems from love.. true love.

Physically.... definitely!
But I have held hands with people who I could not hardly stand before as well. So I guess it depends on your current relationship and if you are both happy in it.
I would imagine a lot of factors would come into the picture when realistically looking at if holding hands actually brings two closer (at least in terms of intimately or emotionally).

Yes, Holding hands signifies that you are spending time together and like each others company. That leads to more meaningfull discussions where they bring you guys closer.

yes! i think its sweet when i was just dating i wud rather hold hands for hours then make out! its like saying hey we're a couple and im gonna be there and hold the persons hand i think its very loving gesture and shows ur proud to be together! esp in a busy place like a mall or street its like hey i dont wanna lose this person lol!

Because you are holding hands, your physical bodies are closer to one another, but physical intimacy will not always translate to emotional closeness. Only time and genuine emotions do that.

Why not? It wouldn't make you more distant. I don't know of couple who would kiss, but not hold hands. It's the first physical touch in a relationship.

Usually it does, but sometimes just getting to know him better gets you closer than physical contact ever could.

Yes realy, you can fell him realy when you touch him, starting with the hands, touching is a very good way to know each others^^ You got to talk also, but touching realy helps.

If it's in public, it shows that he's not afraid of being with you, but whether it's in public or private, it's a subtle way of showing affection.
