Okay, you make a point of being Christian. But, the point is, are you still alive? Joplin, the Stones and a lot of other people did some brilliant work. I think God enjoys most of it, it's gotta be less boring than hearing people sing about you all the time.
I swear, sometimes you Christians act as if Y'sua never had to take a dump, and you must be evil because you do. Lighten up.

Yes, we canenjoy the good things in life. Money and material possessions, however, must be kept in proper perspective. The Apostle Johm wrote: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. ( 1 John 2:15-17). The Christian who has the right attitude toward the world and its things has a healthy spiritual perspective.
Many areas of life are not addressed by clear commands of God. While we may not know or understand all that God is doing in our world, we can understand our responsibilities before Him. Thoses duties are spelled out in His word. The Bible is full of God's clear commands that offer us direction for most of life's decisions. The more we know of God's written word, the more we will know what God wants us to do.
( Ephesians 5:17) states, " Do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is". The Lord's will is clear, as Paul stated in the preceding verses: " See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil" ( vv.15-16). God's will is clear for our lives, that we live for Him and obey in all we do. We are not to live as unbelievers but as children of God who obey His commands for Holy living ( Eph. 4:17 ; 5:17). You need to discern for yourself if the type of music you are listening too is appropriate for God's ears and if the music glorifies the Lord. Remember , that God loaths idolatry in any form. Idolatry is anything that comes between you and God.
But nonetheless, many areas of life are not addressed by the clear commands of God's word. The Bible doesn't tell us which television programs are acceptable. It doesn't tell us what kind of music to listen to. There isn't a specific command that says, don't buy lottery tickets, and it doesn't say how to spend our paychecks. But that doesn't mean that we are left entirely on our own. It is in those areas that God offers general guidelines in His word. I've listed a few that will probably help you in finding the answer you seek in regards to your music choice. Look up each scripture and formulate an answer for yourself on your question.
Put your treasures in heaven ( Mt. 6:20) ; Don't follow the crowd ( Rom. 12:1-2) ; Be subject to authorities ( Rom. 13:1-4) ; Choose the best ( Phil. 4:8) ; Be faithful ( 1 Cor. 4:2) ; Don't be enslaved ( 1 Cor. 6:12) ; Treat your body as God's temple ( 1 Cor.6: 19-20) ; Glorify God in everything ( 1 Cor.10:31) ; Live by grace, not legalism ( Gal. 5:1-6) ; Don't give satan opportunity ( Eph. 4:27) ; Work hard ( 1 Th. 4:11-12). I hope this is helpful for you and things work out for you.

That's a personal thing between you and Jesus. I had a conviction over the music that I listened to so I got rid of it. Now some may call it extreme but I didn't want anything to stand in the way of getting as close as I can to Jesus. He saved me and give me another chance on life. The least I could do in return is to listen to something that would edify Him.
Please understand that NOONE told me I had to do this; I reached this decision through prayer. Ask the Lord what He wants you to do. God Bless.

One thing I've learned about religion is that everyone that truely believes in the religion, is hypocritical.
I grew up Baptist, the most hypocritical of all, and it's tough to really get a good read on what is "propor," but here's what I can tell you is: you will not go to Hell if you listen to rock music, you will not go to Hell if you look at pornogrophy and you will not go to Hell if you swear.
Be who you are and still have faith. As long as you believe in God and take Him in, He will love you.

Does your listening to music make you unable to Love God and Love your neighbor?
I can't see how it would.
Therefore, I personally don't see why your music choice would be a problem.
Why do you feel it is keeping you from being a good Christian?

I don't really think it matters what music you listen too. My son-in-law is a return missionary and he loves all those groups and many others and no one looks down on him.
