Bibles are not in every hotel room across the world, but they are in a lot of them. This is due to the fact the THE GIDEONS INTERNATIONAL, a fellowship association of Christian business professionals in over 175 countries around the world, wish to promote the Holy Bible (AKA The Gospel) of Christ to all people, so that they might come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. That is why the Holy Bible are in a lot of Hotel/Motel rooms. Now, a person does not have to pick up and read the Bible, that is your choice. And some Hotels/Motels choose not to carry the Bible, that is their choice.
A true Christian does not SHOVE anything into anyone face. God would not want that. A true Christian invites others to come to know Jesus of their own free will. God loves everyone in the world and God loves you too. But it's sad that many in the world chooses not to love him.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16
I hope this answers your question.

They are there in case any of the furniture needs a block to stop it from being uneven.
But seriously, the Gideons see it as their mission to bring the bible to all. I've never quite understood why. Yes, they probably want everyone to be a christian.
FYI I've been in really cheap hotels that don't have bibles. Maybe they sold them to pay for the carpet on the walls.

The Gideons is an organization of male businessmen from many denominations. They take their name and logo from the small army that defeated a larger one by showing torches in the night. (Judges 7:1-24)
They print up KJV because there is no problem with copyright, and it is not biased to any Protestant denomination.
They are given to m/hotels' management who place them in the rooms. They reason that is one place where people in trouble seek temporary refuge.

Basically, there's a group called "Gideons International" where basically they distribute the bibles for free to basically "spread the word" of God. I don't think it's a hotel's necessary choice, I think they just accept because it adds one more factor to their hotel. They're not forcing anyone to read it, look at it or even acknowledge it.
Other religions do similar things as well. Please refer to the source for more info and it should cover your question pretty well . .

Hotels accommodate everyone so if you need a bible there's one for you like the soap the towels the shampoo etc. the bible is usually in the drawer so if it offends you so much don't open the drawer!

It's not hotels that put them there, it's a group called the Gideons. And not every place has Bibles. I'm fairly certain that at at least one Marriott (Mormon owned) I saw a Book of Mormon.

no longer each and every lodge room has a bible. people who do have Bible offered by making use of a company referred to as The Gideons which supplies you a bible to for each room the place the lodge requests it. the purpose is to be waiting to have in each and every lodge room a source of help in hassle or convenience.

The Gideon's think its a good idea to put them there. Hunter Thompson used to read them for ideas when he didn't know what to write for his publisher. You don't have to read it if you don't want to. They put it there to help folks who might need it. I look at it like a free book that I can read or not.
