It is completely dependant on the person. Some people are mature enough by say 16. .But I know plenty of people who weren't responcible enough to handle the emotional commitment till they were 18 or older. Ask your self this.... Can you handle someone pressuring you to have sex? If someone said to you "if you care about me you would do (fill in the blank) would you be able to kick them to the curb? In order to have a GOOD relationship you need to be strong on your own... or the guy will end up changing you usually for the worse. If you're not happy with who you are you're not going to be happy with someone either... alot of people think they need a relationship to be happy... that is NOT true. To love another you need to love your self first... don't rush... don't think that if your girlfriends are ready you must be too... everyone is different...

Also don't be afraid to talk to your parents, older sisters or cousins... they may seem like they just want to but in and keep you all sheltered but they have had experiances that you can learn from. May God bless you and keep you and give you wisdom...

Depending on the age of the boyfriend and if sex is involved or not.

Without sex and with a boyfriend less than 3 years older, you might just as well have one when you're 9. Why not.

First you should be asking your parents this question and not strangers. If I had a daughter in today's society she could group date first at the age of 15 that way I get to see the boys she is interested in but for me to trust another child with my daughter I would say 17 with a mandatory curfew. She would be well informed on horny boys ways and sex-ed. just in case I slipped up in the bonding of mother/daughter/father talk section.

I waited until I was 21 before I had a boyfriend. I needed to mature a lot more than I was when I was a teenager. Well worth the wait though.
