I'm not afraid of you. I don't respect your power. I don't even have any reason to believe such things are possible. I think that modern witchcraft is just another poor man's heiarchy (just like religion and rebellion) composed mostly of non wealty Caucasians that hate their parents. Your conduct is infantile. You behave like a bunch of jealous daughters that want to take the attention away from your older brother (that stands to inherit everything), and your older sister (the one that's about to marry the rich guy). It's pathetic.

What makes it so bad is that many of you come in and are like, "Oooh! Oooh! We're better than Christians because we don't make wars! We love life!!!", and then you launch into a Christian bashing campaign second only to their campaign against you. Mabye not all of you. I'm only adressing those that apply.

What do you think about that?

You know I've never met a witch that didn't make me sick to my stomach, or a christian that I felt totally comfortable around. There's something about the whole business that I don't like.

Actually, I try very hard *not* to bash Christians OR Christianity. I have moderated a board on Alternative Beliefs for another website for just over a year and I've *always* maintained a strict no bashing policy, no matter what side the bashing comes from. I have shut down conversations and locked topics when either side got heated and confrontational. To be honest, I not only find it distasteful and offputting, especially on a posting board - but it is a behavior that does both religions a grave disservice.

If and when I choose to dislike someone, it's because of what that person has done, not what he or she called himself.

The fact of the matter is - no matter what group a person chooses to identify him or herself with, chances are that group has been the "Bad Guy" at some point in history. There are no innocent parties here and I'm every bit as offended by those who can't move beyond the past as anyone else. "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

As for the idea that Wicca and witchcraft are simply a form of rebellion against parental authority, I have to respectfully disagree. While my family is not Wiccan and it has caused some discomfort in my relationships with my family, I did not choose to become Wiccan for that purpose.

Nor did I become Wiccan to seek attention. For a number of years, I told no one I was Wiccan at all. While those closest to me know that I am (generally through being observant or directly asking me), it's not a fact I go about broadcasting in my real life. I don't run around on the street dressed in a black dress and striped stockings and a pointed hat, cackling and waving my pentacle at people in maniacal glee.

It sounds to me (and I could certainly be wrong) that your experience with Wicca was in meeting a few rotten apples. Another sad truth is that every group has some - and they are not representative of the whole. I apologize for that, mainly because it's the rotten apples in a group that make life more difficult for the rosy ones still in the bushel.\

ETA: "an it harm none, do what thou wilt" is often misinterpreted. It is not an admonishment to never harm anything, but rather it is a reminder to consider the repercussions of your actions before you act. It's true - you can't go through life without causing some level of harm or damage - it's about deciding what *you* personally consider worth accepting the consequences of.

The Wiccans and/or Pagans you speak about are usually known as 'fluff-bunnies'. For them Wicca is a fun, rebellious thing to do to anger their parents. For the most part it is a phase they grow out of. Some continue on to true witchcraft and stick with it. I am not Wiccan, I am a heathen, but from a christian point of view the distinction is irrelevant, even though there is a big difference. True Wiccans, heathens, magicians, ect honestly could not care less about christians if they tried. Why would they? The christian worldview is completely different and incompatable with their own. The christian religion is completely irrelevant to a pagan or heathen. We also do not worship the devil. The devil as you imagine 'him' is a completely middle-eastern concept. He does not exist as you imagine him in any other major religion or culture. So you have to contradiction that in order to worship 'satan', you have to first be a christian, jew or muslim. I only mention this because from the looks of your tagline, "House of Light", you imagine that you oppose satan. I wanted to point out that you are opposing an integral part of your own religion. Jesus sacrifice is meaningless without an ultimate evil to deliver us from.

Suprisingly enough, I have the many of the same problems with Wicca as you do but for very different reasons. The Wiccans who make the statements you mentioned usually have some need to prove themselves or stand out and most likely dont actually perform any real magic. Real magic takes dedication, discipline and lots and lots of reading. Most fluff-bunnies just are not willing to put that much work into pissing off their parents. The very statement 'Harm none' is ridiculous and impossible to actually acheive. We are all connected through an energy that requires balance. Just as in science, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you sucessfully perform a spell to get a job you really want, you have necessarily caused someone else to not get it. Thats just the way the universe works.

As to your final question of "What do you think about that?", I think you are being just as infantile as those you accuse.

There is really nothing to be afraid of witches and wiccans. They are just the same as a psychology, psychoanalyst, medicine, rellgion put together. Anyone can approach them for consultations. They're just another religion.
What's wrong with wanting to get a wealthy spouse, any so called "religionist" also pry, i mean pray for that. And just like any true believer of any faith, they submit to the will of the Supreme Being. Is it a sin that they can conjure or order "spirits" to do what they deemed is necessary, for them, it is not, it is a priviledge. But what's worst than this witches are the so called "Believers", either muslims, christians or jews that make the Supreme Being looks like a "super waiter" who they give orders of what they want in life thru "PRAYERS".What's the difference?????
So the next time we face God, we do not give orders, instead, we report for duty.

you have no clue do some research before you stereotype Wicca besides most Wicca are male, it is sad that you watch so much t.v. read a book anything by Cunningham look the library has books, as Wicca has roots that date century's before Christians try who were the Celts 1500 b.c. I do believe those you speak of are phonies, and poser's we worship the sun the earth the air the water vary similar to the native Americans do you also put them down we have a God and there is only one true God be him what ever you chose to call by name but we differ as we also believe that earth is mother as it is said the father created us from the earth, I personally have a mother and father, you kind of need that to be born ,oh and check the holidays you observe most are of Celtic descent,or Wicca, so who is the true hypocrite so-mote-it-be......if you wish to learn more about true Wicca go to the library, and don't blast others for there beliefs the first rule of Wicca is to harm none,if anyone who claims to be of Wicca and does not recognize that they are not Wicca,,,

I am Christian myself, but instead of beating down on them why don't you act more Christlike and not judge others. Just because some of them may act the way you say doesn't give you a right to bash them. Be the bigger person, eh?

"CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED"

Ever hear the phrase, "You can dish it out, but you can't take it"? That's what's happening when Fundamentalists use this statement. They have been on the attack for years now, trying to deny rights to homosexuals, trying to outlaw abortions, trying to keep women from obtaining equal rights, and trying to impose their own morals - many of them non-biblical - on the rest of society. Non-Fundamentalists are finally fighting back by speaking out against their campaigns, their media onslaughts, and their mistaken notions of truth, and the Fundamentalists don't like it very much. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. So when people of good conscience stand up for their rights, Fundamentalists cry foul - they claim they are being persecuted.

Fundamentalists see this "persecution" as biblical proof of being on God's side. It's not. Their so-called persecution is merely the rest of society defending itself from their attacks. Their so-called persecution is merely being called to the carpet for their actions. Their so-called persecution comes in the form of editorials that don't paint them in a glowing light or legislation that goes against their made-truths. If they can't get their schools to allow them to pray to their God during class time, they claim they are being attacked. What would happen if Buddhists and Muslims tried to get the same special rights? Fundamentalists would be beside themselves in anger.

This is not the persecution mentioned in the Bible. The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16). And yet these people have the gall to claim they are being persecuted in God's name. They are not. All they have to worry about is someone calling them bad names and denying them their request for favoritism.

I'm not Wiccan but don't you think you are over generalizing these people. And what century is this? Since when do older brothers inherit everything?

Grins. I wouldn't advise bashing mystics. You get instant karma around those who think unconditionally and your own spewing darkness like you typed above will come right back in your own face. Enjoy!
