my hair is pretty dark and i'm wanting a blonde color but i can't ever get it light enough. i want to do this myself at home. so i need something i can get at drug store or walmart.

I wouldn't buy a hair coloring kit that is fake blondish color. But, I would use Lemon Juice in with your shampoo and keep on using that and you'll get natural highlights. I wouldn't buy anthing with an burnt ash in the blonde cause chances are, it'll come out red!

You might just have to go to a salon. I don't think the hair coloring or bleaching products contain enough peroxide to lighten dark hair to blonde. The lightest you'll end up is orange.
I have very dark black hair and even when I used a platinum blonde color, my hair turned a light red, not quite orange.
