I live in Plano, TX and I just moved here. I’m living with a friend and at first she told me that it was ok for me to bring my cat, but now she's saying that the cat HAS to go, she's allergic and it makes noise at night... does anyone know of a good shelter that DOES NOT kill cats? Or does anyone want a cat, he's VERY mild mannered and is GREAT with kids... he's been fixed and knows how to use the litter box, he had his shots last year, but I don't have the paperwork because I just moved and it's in a box somewhere... PLEASE someone help my cat from being put down... *crying* he's such a wonderful cat! and deserves a great home...

i LOVE Ollie very much, but i just moved here, i don't have a job yet, i can't afford to kennel him, and i can't afford to move out, unless i want to live in a cardboard box... so even though i love him with all my heart, i have no other options, all i want is for him to go to a good home...

I would much rather prefer a TEMPORARY home... that way when I can get my own place I can get him back! I love my kitty, my son loves Ollie, and I really hate it when ppl think that a cat is a "disposable" pet... I’ve had a few cats in my life, and I have NEVER gotten rid of it because I thought like that, my last two cats I had died, and I would still have them otherwise…
If I had my own place I wouldn’t even be considering anything like this… he’s my kitty, I saved his life, and I didn’t plan on this…

i lived in Plano for 20 years.....now i live in Denton. go to your phone book and find Operation Kindness, Feral Friends, or any no-kill shelter (OK is a no-kill shelter). Or you need to find a friend to foster him until you can find your own place. Go up to the PetSmarts at 75 and Parker, Park and the Tollway, Coit and Campbell, Preston and 121, Inwood and 635, and Greenville and 75 and fill out foster cards. The people at the Banfield Hospitals in those PetSmarts may be able to help you too. Good Luck. I'd take him if I didn't already have 3 of m own. I wish I could help you more. E-mail me if you have any questions. fizzywater_311@yahoo.com

That is sad. Why did she suddenly change her mind? Did she not know she was allergic? Personally I wouldn't get rid of my cat or dog, I would move first.
Anyway ask friends first, which you probably did.
Here is the address for a place in Plano on Independence Pkwy. http://www.animalguardians.com/
If you don't have luck there, here is a list of no-kill shelters in the area. If you aren't familiar with Plano, you want to call the Garland or Dallas places first. http://www.dogpack.com/directory/txnokill.htm They are closer to Plano.
But ask each place if they have some where to recommend if they can't take your baby.
: ( Wish I knew someone who wants a cat, I live just a bit away.

Your cat is your responsibility and should remain so for the life span of the cat! If your cat was a child would you even consider giving it up because someone else told you too? Maybe your cat loves you and doesn't WANT a new home. You need to find somewhere else to live that is a secure home for your cat. Pets are not disposable items that should be discarded when they are no longer convenient for you. You need to get off the internet and start looking for somewhere to live that welcomes your cat!

I used to live in your area. Here is a list of NO KILL animal shelters. It gives you a list for all of the ones in Texas, so just look for your area. http://www.dogpack.com/directory/txnokill.htm One of them should be able to help you! Good luck! I hope Ollie can find a nice home.
If not, there are a lot of things that can be done for cat allergies. I'm allergic, but I have two cats. I take shots, but you can also buy a product to put in their food that changes the properties of their dander, so that you're not allergic anymore. As for noise, get your roommate a sound machine! She won't notice a thing!

I know its hard to give up a furr friend. The first thing keep your cat in your room. Tell your friend that you are looking to place the kitty in the right home. Put an add on petfider or in the local paper. make sure you screan the people, look at their houses see where your cat is going to go. only give the cat to someone that can take care of it.

There are MANY other options to this-kennal your cat, move some-where else,or if you have any familly or anything there than you can ask them to baby sit for awhile......if you really loved your cat......would you be giving him up so EASILLY?so what that your friend is allergic-if she said it was fine at first.....!You could get a little cage for him and take him on walks on a harness! You sound like you love this cat but you are not willing to to put the work into it-toss some ideas around-talk to your friend-is there a basment he could stay in for a little while{you still taking him on walks}AND WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT PUT HIM TO SLEEP!

Try the Humane Society. There are also places like PAWS...means something like Pound Animals Worth Saving.
Good luck. Hey...maybe you want the stupid one I have? She's 12 and very loving after being banned to the garage for the rest of her natural life for whizzing on the dog's beds.

If the room-mate said it was ok, Then I would suggest to the room mate to go to the Dr. and get allergy meds. That is if they enjoy your company that much. In the end, your cat will still be there and your friend will probably be gone. Animals Rule, People are Cruel!
