Run for local office. You would be surprised at how many vacancies there are and no one is running in those positions. Choose one, run, vote for yourself and then you start off on a local level career. I know a young man now, but when he ran for local traffic court judge he was right out of high school and only 18. They printed a Hugh article about him in the paper saying how could a child run for and possible hold an office in the court system @52,000 a year.
Well, all that free publicity got him elected and he is to this day now sitting as judge in another part of local courts and making a lot more money and enjoying his choice at 18.
Timing is everything. Submit your application to a position just before the deadline. HE HE HE

First of all, vote in every election.
When your candidate is in office, do something most people don't do, write to him to tell him your thoughts on what needs to be done.
Help with petitioning to change laws when there is a campaign pending.
Go to your local government meetings. It lets them know you're watching them.
