I'm pretty sure the capacity for starting fights is equally shared among all belief systems. Certainly Yahoo Answers creates a forum for moronic, facile attacks on the belief systems of others, whether one is atheist, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, Wiccan, Baha'i, Yezidi, Hindu, Jain, you name it. Maybe what you mean is that your attention is drawn to atheist expressions of hostility to the beliefs of others. Your own question does smach of anti-Catholic prejudice, for example, so perhaps anti-Catholic statements made by others don't offend you. In all fairness, it is hard to explain the contemporary situation in the world of mutual hostility between, say, Jews, Christians, and Muslims by blaming the atheists, right? I mean, the atheists didn't start the Iraq war and aren't playing a major role in perpetuating the Israeli-Palestinian crisis. I think you are right to advocate for a more civil dialogue (you can begin by examining your anti-Catholic and anti-Atheist prejudices, perhaps)--considered starting with the man or woman in the mirror?

First off, I think telling someone they will 'burn in hell', which is what atheists so often hear, is a pretty nasty thing to say so really we have every right to be a little annoyed. Also saying we lack purpose is insulting too, my life's purpose is just as important and worthy as yours, I only chose to devote my life to the people around me rather than a judgmental, cruel 'God'.
We don't blame all of you for the mistakes of Catholics, we blame religion for causing hatred and war in the world, and for manipulating and controlling people.
Finally, atheists ask questions for the same reason anyone asks questions. Curiosity! It doesn't show insecurity at all, to be honest it is the Christians that are offended by our curiosity that are the insecure ones. They can't handle their faith being questioned because deep down a lot of them can't provide satisfactory answers.

That's assuming quite a bit, isn't it? I'm not an atheist, but by saying that, you're doing exactly what the people causing trouble do: making irrational judgements and generalizations about others. And here's a thought for you, why do so many (not all, but in my experience, many) Christians try to convince non-Christians that the only way to believe is their way? Religion (or the lack thereof) is supposed to be a personal journey to decide what's best for you and your beliefs, and I disagree with anyone, Christian, Catholic, atheist or whatever, who says otherwise.
And if you must know, I happen to be Jewish.

go check out some questions from athiests. you'll find christians causing trouble over there.
you forgot to mention your views on the catholic church are just your opinions and not facts. the catholic church clearly states that topics like stigmata, apparitions and locusions are '3rd degree beliefs' and you don't have to believe these topics to get to heaven. and it happens that the vatican reports that they are usually reluctant to put their 'stamp of approval' on these events.
i bet your christian church was started by a human being. the catholic church was founded by jesus. jesus told peter to be the rock of his church? peter was the first pope. the present pope is a successor in a long line beginning with peter. it's in your bible.
there is a difference between worshipping and honoring. catholics honor the pope, mary and saints. they don't worship them.
i don't hear catholics cutting down other christian religions. it seems to always be the christians that tear down other christian religions that are not their own. that's intolerance. it annoys me. all of the traditions and extras included in the catholic church don't distract them from praying to Jesus, it inhances the experience. if you disagree, then great for you, i respect that. just don't cut other religions down because they're not your beliefs.
i personally believe that if you live your life believing in God, and basically following the ten commandments and doing good works, you will reach heaven. btw: i am neither a catholic, nor a christian.

Oh . hahaha. Why is it every time a Pagan or an atheist or a nonxtian asks a question, they are bombarded with xian judgmentalism and propoganda and accused falsely of worshipping the devil ( there is no devil in the craft just in case you didn't know).
I don't think atheists are the troublemakers round here at all. I think it is the xians.
Oh and I'm not even an atheist.

It is the "us" VS. "them" that starts trouble. I have seen just as many Christians in here making statements to get a reaction out of people. Even your question has a few things in it that could start "trouble" I think a lot of people are on here to rile people up or have fun. And a few who really want to talk & understand

Who is questioning the bible or Christianity?
There is no doubt the bible is a book of mythology and Christianity is a pagan religion invented by a pagan Roman Emperor in 325 CE (ad)>

By asking this question the empty ones came a running .lol These people are in fear especially of the unknown. GOD is known to us by his love and understanding. These people won't stop hurting others because they are hurt themselves. They are empty. If they were fulfilled, why question Christians beliefs? Because they don't have a life and they must blame someone who is fulfilled in theirs. Pray for them because I am!

Every time I come here, I see some Atheist starting fights by saying all these bad things about Christians.
it sounds like YOU are the one starting fights and contention between atheists. because i dont see any atheists attacking you. YOU casted the first stone. and you are considered NOT without SIN but christianity is a load of cow manure!!!
"CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED"
Ever hear the phrase, "You can dish it out, but you can't take it"? That's what's happening when Fundamentalists use this statement. They have been on the attack for years now, trying to deny rights to homosexuals, trying to outlaw abortions, trying to keep women from obtaining equal rights, and trying to impose their own morals - many of them non-biblical - on the rest of society. Non-Fundamentalists are finally fighting back by speaking out against their campaigns, their media onslaughts, and their mistaken notions of truth, and the Fundamentalists don't like it very much. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. So when people of good conscience stand up for their rights, Fundamentalists cry foul - they claim they are being persecuted.
Fundamentalists see this "persecution" as biblical proof of being on God's side. It's not. Their so-called persecution is merely the rest of society defending itself from their attacks. Their so-called persecution is merely being called to the carpet for their actions. Their so-called persecution comes in the form of editorials that don't paint them in a glowing light or legislation that goes against their made-truths. If they can't get their schools to allow them to pray to their God during class time, they claim they are being attacked. What would happen if Buddhists and Muslims tried to get the same special rights? Fundamentalists would be beside themselves in anger.
This is not the persecution mentioned in the Bible. The leaders of the Christian Coalition are not being hung on crosses (Philippians 2:8). The leaders of the Family Research Council are not being stoned to death (Acts 7:59). The leaders of Focus on the Family are not being thrown to the lions (Daniel 6:16). And yet these people have the gall to claim they are being persecuted in God's name. They are not. All they have to worry about is someone calling them bad names and denying them their request for favoritism.

Sounds like the atheists are getting to you. They don't question christianity because of insecurity, they judge it because they want Christians to actually think for theirselves and not just take someone's word for it.
Also, from my experience, it is the Christians who always start trouble with non-Christians. This question strengthens my arguement.
