You might also ask what the vegetarian creatures ate since the sea water would have killed all the plants, and the salt and minerals would have made all the water undrinkable too.
Sorry it's a Biblical myth that starts to get very silly if you really analyze it.

The flood could have happened, but it wasn't the whole world as we know it. If Noah's small area was flooded, it would be all that he knew (his whole world). But the whole world wasn't under water. There is no record of such large flood in the geology of the earth. Where Noah could have lived though, there is a record of a large flood.
I'm sure the carnivores got off the ark and ate the other animals striaght away (nice job Noah...). But there were still those animals in other areas, they just gradually remigrated there. After there was nothing left, those carnivores died too and the same thing happened as with the herbivores (they remigrated),
The second paragraph is my theory, the first is scientific belief.

Are you actually combining ecological science with the myth of the Flood? That's a type trespass, no? The food chain is a scientific concept; the Ark journey is a Genesis myth.

This is as good a time as any for me to ask the thumpers -- exactly how do you drown a fish???
If, as all you thumpers believe, your version of the Bible is the "gospel" truth, and Noah brought two of every animal onto the ark, and all the rest perished, what about the fish?
Hell, while I'm at it, may as well get the rundown on what happened with all the snails, flies, worms, etc.?
And, what about nematodes and other soil-abiding organisms?
Okay, that'll do for now.

The animals came marching three by three but then some of them got shanked when they were sleeping.
I always thought that the ark story was eluding to how only a few get salvation while all the others get tossed to the side.

The conclusion that the deluge was world wide has been fairly disproven. Which means there were some surviving, if soggy prey to be found. Remember, according to the story, there were only so many pr editors 'left' it did not take herds to give them a decent start on their instincts.

Is there really a god? After reading your question, I say no. I never thought about that before reading your question. Thank you for showing me the truth.
