Coroner's must have some kind of clues to check for as a standard sign of evidence leaning one direction as a rule of thumb? right?

A sucide or murder is thoroughly investigated...
There are a lot of different things checked to determine if the vent was suicide or murder..'

such in a gun shot wound---the direction of the splatter is checked--bullet residue is checked--the direction that the bullet entered the body is checked----if the person was right or left handed---etc.., etc..

No stone is left unturned when this happens!

I think the big thing is the markings on the body and the surroundings of the crime scene. If someone commits suicide with a handgun, when the gun is shot and the person is killed, the gun flies out of the hand and is normally across the room from the body or a few feet away. If you find that the gun is in their hand, it was a murder and the murderer placed the gun in their hand to make it look like a suicide when it would be impossible for the gun to be in the victim's hand.
Now if it were a hanging, you can tell by the markings how they dropped. Or it could be a set up, hung after death to look like a suicide. In that case, there really wouldn't be any markings. Same goes for a stabbing, the angle the knife goes into the flesh.
It all depends on each case. But it's mostly about the markings and crime scene.

The coroner has many checks and tests he/she conducts during an autopsy. the coroners determination is a result of all these tests put together and checked against other date to come to a conclusion or opinion of the cause of death.

Sure, the rope marks around the neck, past marks on the wrists from past attempted suicides, stomach contents to look for pill fragments, toxicology, they also go by the police and ems reports at what was found at the scene.

It depends on the manner of death. The manner in which they died would give clues specific to the method of death. Could be various things.

my aunt is a mortician and she said it depends on how they died. she said toxicology reports, directions of wounds, if they dont seem to have any bruises or have struggled they would rule out different types of murder. watch CSI lol, they go through a lot of the stuff my aunt was talking about.

Note, witnesses, manor of death and location (hanging in locked room) and forensic evidence (point blank shot to head, and powder burns on hands).

Usually defensive bruises or signs that someone else commited the crime, not the person who commited suicide; also signs that that person had suicidal tendencies.
