I am braiding my own hair by the way.

same with me
whenever i french braid my hair it always has a big bump at the top and then near the middle and bottom its ok
i think its becaz you are doing it..have someone do it for you

I agree with Mali. Tension is important. Make sure to keep the strands tight, but not too tight (you don't want to get a headache!). As well, try french braiding at different angles. My friend has to french braid her hair, she has to tilt her head to the side.

Try french braiding your hair when it's wet. It seems like you're not using enough tension which makes hair slip. When your hair is wet, it tends to hold in place better.

because you are doing the braiding..i bet you are going off center causing the bump

You could be doing it too loose. Try little ones or make them tighter.
