Yes, the bowtie came from wall paper- William C. Durant's(GM's Founder) wife and Chevrolet's ( a racer) wife were in paris and Mrs. Durant clipped some wall paper from a hotel and took it home to her husband and a legend was born.

Wrong on the GMC so far- it doesn't stand for General Motors Corp. Keep trying!!!

Grabowsky Motor Coach- Spelling might be wrong but this IS the CORRECT answer. It was founded by two brothers and the renamed Rapid something or other whem GM purchased it. Points To Me!!!!!!!!!

GMC stands for General Motor Company And the bow tie came from the original designer saying ties represent professionalism.

Since you've given the answer for the second part, I'm going to guess Generalized Multi-Carrier for the first.

I was always told it stood for General Motors Company/Corporation.

Still doesn't sound right...*wanders off to research*
