Just like ticks on humans... Same type of bug, just on them and not you. If they are inside the dog's skin already, there's just a tiny bump and you might be able to see a leg or two. Best way to get it out is have someone hold the dog down, move all his/her fur out of the way as much as possible and put a lit match right near it (without lighting the fur on fire). The tick should back out of the skin and you can tweeze it off. Depending on the type of tick, the dog can get extremely sick or die if it's left there (just like with humans... Lyme's disease, etc).

You can go online and look up ticks if you need to or they are black little with their heads inserted into the body of the animal. If the match doesn't work like the previous person mentioned try Vaseline which suffocates the tick and removes its head and easier to remove. It's worked for me. I've had plenty of ticks on my dog. Pinch the skin where it's located and pull whole tick.

Depends on the kind of tick- color usually varies between a light gray to a grayish brown or even a dark chocolate brown color. The link I added has pictures. Best way to remove them honestly, is with your fingers- using your fingernails to pull the head- I have used other tick-removal stuff and usually ended up throwing the tick once it was off LOL so it didn't work so well for me. Then I always burn their heads because you cant squish a tick and kill it.. grrrrrr. Use alcohol or peroxide to clean the area after you have removed the ticks. Have horses and dogs- both prone to ticks yick. Hope this helped.

They are small and black and imbed themselves in the dogs skin starting with their heads. If you try to pull them out yourself, be careful because their heads can easily break off in the dog, but you still have to take your pooch to the vet, because this is lime disease season! Make sure to part the hair and check all of the skin! Call your vet! Good luck!

A scary crawly thing, the same as on humans. They don't morph shape between animals...unless they drank a lot of your blood, and become round enough they have to now roll home from the buffet...ewww
