The same place we all get our energy from. What's the difference between a person and a side of beef? One is moving, living, breathing, the other is not. They just learn more about this than most people know. This knowledge (i.e., being a "witch") is like a stick, rock , gun, or anything else. It is only good or bad depending on what you use it for. A lot of the same information is in the bible and other "Christian" writings. Now if you get all the information from there and get enough faith to move a mountain, you would be called a saint instead of a witch. So be careful when you associate "powers" with "witches" because the term "witch" usually connotes a person's religious beliefs and their "powers" are no different than anything available to any human being, no matter what their religious beliefs.

wow, some good answers coming through. from what i understand by looking at history, witches were healers not unlike today's herbalists if you just look at the plant aspect of their craft. if god can be found in everything, he/she is hidden throughout our environment, so you can say from god if you want to since they work with nature. christianity then had a hard time comprehending what it didn't understand or wanted to control the populace more throughly and declared it of the devil, which was apparently a good excuse to kill anyone who they felt were witches. this challenges to reason who was really "following satan" as they say. anyway, witches get their powers from the divine, you can call it god, goddess, will, or spirit. it is how people use these forces that are of concern, not that they have cultivated them. christians and witches alike.

Based on what I've seen with my own eyes, poetic license, stubbornness, and dehydration.
Sometimes, I wonder if mabye they're just hiding their true power from an outsider (me), but then I looked at their lives and their bodies and how messed up their children and parents were, and I came to the conclusion that they were just more delusional people. Lord knows theirs no shortage of those.
Now, those are just the "Witches" I grew up with, mind you. You guys might be real badasses out in Canada.

Its not that we get power from anything - it's all about connection.
Real Witches and other magickal people are connected with the unseen forces that shape our world, the otherworld, and many other realities.
Quantum physics applies. If the physical world was truly 'set in stone' no one would be able to do magick.

The same place people of any religion get the power of an answered prayer from (because that is all a spell is an elaborate prayer). The force of their own belief and will.

Power is within all of us. It just needs prodded with a big pointy stick sometimes, but we do rituals and invoke our powers instead..... it's much less painful.
