Abram had is name changed, by God, to Abraham. He became the father of the people of Isreal, the Jews. He, Abram, was an Arab.
Therefore, If a jew is an atheist, he denies the existence of God, and therefore is an Arab.
Right?

It seems that you all misunderstand my question:
being jew necessitates the admission that Abraham was separated by GOD and that GOD began in him a new people. so if a jew is to deny the existence of God, then they must deny that a new people was started from Abraham. I never stated that they deny that they are from Abraham.

If ishmael is the father of the arabs, and abraham is HIS father then Abrham is the father of the arabs and if that is so, then abraham's dad is the father of the arabs, too.
Yes I use arab as people from that region.
Just as Jacob (Isreal) is the father of the isrealites, he had children by both spouses and their handmaidens. By the way, God did not consider this adultry and the offspring were ALL considered his children, so by extension why would not all of abraham's children not all be either jews or arabs? the ONLY difference that I can see is the faith that GOD separated half of them and thereby created the "jews". Were it not so all of abram's children would have been arabian children. Understand now?

Its refreshing to see that Jews are almost as ignorant about their religion as Christians.

wow talk about political correctness nightmare.
Things don't work that way buddy. Atheism is just that a-theism, or otherwise known as opposite of belief. An atheist is someone who is not theistically, religiously, motivated where as a... theist is.
If a person of jewish origin denies god, that in itsself does not make him an atheist. However if anyone denies any form of religion....that makes one an atheist.
An Arab is a shortened form of the word Arabian. I am not certain if the idea of your "Arab" definition is the same as mine, however if you are using the term Arab to define the stereotyped class of people that is known aloud as Muslim or Islamic, I believe you have far to go to pass your humanities class.
By your statement alone you are comparing apples to oranges. A jew is not a race of people by scientific standards or even by legal practices. A jew is a person that follows the jewish tenants. An Arab is not a race but a term that defines a person of local ethnic variety--and, might I add, can be seen in local populaces as an insulting term.
Your statement is clearly visible as a racial slur as jews are not limited to just the Middle East. And an Arab is not limited to just the Arabian Penninsula (a geographical location on any global map)
Your question is much the same as if an atheistic Protestant is just a Californian? The statement is biased, slurred and illogical...and has no place in today's society.

That is one of the mysteries of the bible.
According to the bible, Abram was from what we now call Iraq.
Yet, he allegedly fathered two different "races," Jews & Arabs.
The simple answer is Abram didn't exist. And if he did, Jews & Arabs are a common people separated by a religion (Judaism).
I didn't misunderstand your question. The myth that Jews are a "race" orignated with the bible and anyone who does not believe the bible cannot possibly believe Jews are a unique "race." There is no other way for them to have become "Jews." There is no such thing as an atheist Jew.

Abraham was not an Arab. His son Ishmael is the father of all Arabs. Ishmael descended to Arabia and lived there
Furthermore to the other peolple who answered - Iraq is not Arabia. Arabs have spread out into Iraq and plenty of other lands. Iraq is Mesopotamia and was held by different empires numerous times.
Also, Abraham fathered 2 children - Isaac and Ishmael, so yes technically jews and arabs are very distant cousins.
Dude! If a Indian person converted from Buddhism to Christianity would he no longer be considered Indian?!?
Judaism is religion but being Jewish does not neccesitate that you practice Judaism. It's a demonination that cannot be changed.

Wrong!! Are you aware that there are Jewish Arabs? (people of Arab ancestry and speak Arabic but follow the Jewish faith. They are living till this day in Morocco, Yemen, Tunisia,... and some went to Israel.
Abraham wasn't an Arab. Ismael son of Abraham was the progenitor of the twelve tribes of "Ishmaelites" or Middle East Arabs. He is regarded as the Father of the Arabs. Anyone who can trace their ancestors to the Arabian Peninsula is an Arab.
Also, aren't you aware that most Arabs believe in The One God Abraham prayed to and worshiped. Whether they are Muslims, Christians, or Jews. The Kaaba Muslims (of all ethnicity's not only Arabs) make pilgrimage to is built by Abraham and his son Ismael (pbut). They revolve around it chanting the Oneness of God.

Abraham bore Ishmael and Isaac
Isaac bore Esau and Jacob
The term Jew when describing race is supposed to refer to someone who is an Israelite (son of Jacob/Israel). Though there is little proof by which many modern Jews can verify their lineage.
Jew can also refer to someone who is a follower of Judaism, but they have to be a descendant of Israel (or at least claim to be) because the term refers to those who share in the inheritance of Israel, an outsider was considered a sojourner of the Jews (like Ruth in the Bible).
The term Arab today typically refers to people who are descendants of Ishmael/Esau who dwelled within the region, Persians (Iranians) find it offensive to be called Arab for I do not think they share the same ancestral lineage.
Today, it is very probable that small traces of many races are intermingled in everyone.

Not exactly. Abraham might have been from the Arabian peninsula (though I don't think Iraq is on the Arabian peninsula), but an Atheist Jew born in the US is not. Arab means you are form a geographic region. An atheist jew is still a Jew by birth, an Atheist by personal affiliation and geographically, from wherever he is from.

Wrong. Jews have never been arabs. The Jews were the originators of the Bible. The arabs are Muslims, religion that came much later. Even an atheistic Jew is still a Jew.

Abram was born in Ur of the Chaldeans. (Attributed to Gen. 11.26-11.31) Ur was thought to be in Babylonia, hence Abram was most likely Babylonian.
If a Jew is an atheist, just because he denies the existence of G-d, does not make him anything but whatever nationality is he and as pointed out earlier he will always remain Jewish.
