The scent sac is removed due to offensive odor or repeated "bumping" on the furniture and such. They use the fluid to mark their territory ordinarily. She may experience some confusion when she comes home and "bumps" the chair without the familiar smell. Also, any dogs who regularly sniff her (for identification purposes) may not act as they did prior to her surgery.

After dogs were domesticated, the need for the anal sac diminished; however, you may want to help her deal with this new circumstance by giving her scented treats. Smoked Pigs Ears really please most pugs (with or without their anal sacs).

It's not that big a deal. I have a pug, and have always had pugs. Yeah, some of them have had their sacs removed. Your dog will be fine, just follow the directions the vet gives you.
