I listen to lots of different types too, including R&B and hip-hop, and I'm a Christian. Though I think it is unneccesary and wrong to use vulgar and abusive language in a song. but like you said if you don't take it as an offense than it shouldn't be a problem.
The language is only a sin of the writer in my opinion, if you like a song or a TV show or a movie that uses profanity from time to time I think that's okay; especially since some of those same writers write about God and Christian ideas. But you should be aware of it and try not to use it yourself.

No one can judge you. So don't let them. Only God knows what is in your heart. If the music goes against your morals as a Christian than yes but if not no problem. Remember, the music is sung/played by an artist with a God given talent.
By the way music is not just music. I wouldn't want to live in a world without any of it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with listening to music you like. I also like all types of music. As long as you don't think "well, if they can sing/rap about this, then it's ok for me to do it," then I think it's fine. When people start thinking THAT way, that's when problems arise. Music IS just music...

You are right. If you let the messages found in some songs affect your actions negatively, then music is a stumbleing block for you. Otherwise, it is an awesome way to relax, enjoy yourself, and express your personality.

I grew up the same way and always thought that it is what you let effect you verses what you hear or see, my parents believed different. Now that I am older I know that YES it really can have an effect on you, but again you make all final decisions.(Of course "you" should know that in the Bible it says to keep all in purities away from your body, and yes that would include music)

If you love God then nothing else can get in the way of that.Even loving to listen to any kind of music that may or may not have lyrics that are against God.The only way I think God would get upset is if you believed in the music rather then just liking it.

I don't think God would be pleased if you listened to music that was vulgar. After all, we are not supposed to conform to the world. If it is music that doesn't glorify God, I wouldn't like it. On the other hand, I don't think He'd mind if it wasn't all praise and worship as long as it wasn't nasty, disrespectful, or vulgar. If you could listen to it with Him sitting there and not be ashamed it is probably okay.
