we have a tailbone, it's called a coccyx. i think we lost it b/c, like primates, we didn't need it - think it's primarily for balance of some sort, not sure - forget it...i don't know

We are primates. They are not. Didn't you read it?

Edit: And yes, we do have tails. Our tailbones have just simply gotten shorter and shorter until they don't stick out of our bodies anymore. Once in a while, you hear of a human baby being born with a tail. They usually remove it right away...

Other primates have "lost" their tails, too. Ever seen a gorilla with a tail? Or an orangutan? They don't need them anymore, either.

wa dont need to hold on trees with it any more, haven´t u noticed?
last time we had tails was before there was any diference between a monkey and an ape, then the (still tree dwelling) apes got so big that a funtional prehensile tail was getting out of question and then humans , unlike other apes, climbed down from the trees

dogs need it for wagging -getting their smell around and im happy we dont do the same

lol. Yeah. what i'd like to know is now did we make the move from creatures who reproduce asexually, to creatures that produce not only sexually, but carry the young in our bodies until it is fully functional.

THATS something i'd like them to explain to me. because the ability for a woman to carry a child is so impossible, yet it happens naturally.

*rolls eyes* to all those who actually believe we never had tails.

A fetus has a tail in the womb, nimrods.

Dogs use their tails for balance, etc. Frankly, we didn't need them when we began walking upright.
