And the Easter Bunny, The tooth fairy etc. Just curious. I believe in God so please don't preach to me.

Hmm - I love that people are saying "Because God is real, and the others are not." PROVE IT. And I need to rephrase what I said when I wrote "I believe in God." I'm not Christian, and i although I may beleive in a higher power, I believe religion is a bunch of lies and brainwashing.

southernlady 69 - don't tell me to grow up. I am an adult and I was simply curious as to why we are so easy to believe that God exists when we have been told as children that other thing existed that don't.

Because people need to believe that they live for something or else to them its meaningless. People wanna live forever and believe theres a cause. That is the ulmtimate question "why are we here?".

Because after a certain age you are discourage from believing in Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy or people start to worry about your hold on reality. While God (your god) is a matter of "faith" (faith = a matter of things hoped for, unseen). So while you can't see your god, you can see his works in your everyday world where ever you choose to look, also worshipping an unseen God usually has your parents approval, unlike believing in Santa at 30. That makes a big difference.

Because there is a point in our life that we come to terms with the fact that not everything we are told was or is true. But many of us still believe that there is a higher being that most certainly has a plan for us and was responsible for existence.Beyond that, most of us just know that there isn't a magical flying sleigh or winged fairy or talking Bunny that lays chocolate or painted eggs because none of those things sound plausible in our creation nor in our reality.

Easy, somebody made up the Easter Bunny and Santa to TRICK kids into behaving. God is way different, and it's sad that people see him in the same way as fairy tales.

We still believe in God because He still works in our lives. Santa never came to my house. Neither did the Easter Bunny or the rest of them, but I can feel God working in my life every day.

it's hard wired into the human brain and therefore nessisary for survival.
people have believed i a god/goddess since before recorded history and also an afterlife. the belief is as old as homo sapiens.
it has only been since the 18th century that people, by and large, began to stop believing in god. this rapidly increased in the 20th century, because for the first time more and more people were living in an unnatural(zoo) envirnment.
caged animals act in strange ways and so do humans caged by society in modern cities. this causes mental illness in people like zoos cause mental illness in animals.
the modern, unnatural envirnment and a society that has degraded, since it has no room left to grow has cause this mental pathology of atheism.

Because we know that Santa, the Easter Bunny etc. are not real and we know that God is real. If you don't believe me God is real, read the bible.

if you believe in God: then what is justification for asking this question.

I am a christian and love my child enough that i have never lied to her. she knows that Santa and the others are games we play around certain events.

The fairy tales are told as lies that one is meant to grow out of. The biblical tales are told as inherent truths that are never to be questioned. People do as they are told - they question the things told to them with a wink, but never do as they've been warned not to.
