Why such extreme intolerance for Creationists & Believers?

I'm amazed by the name calling, the lack of respect, the accusations & general poor attitude of athiets. BOTH sides have a right to their opinions, be they logical or not, without resorting to name calling & general put-downs.

Wrong. Creationists have not been satisfied to live and let live but have been doing their dead level best to ram their twisted beliefs down other folks' throats. Don't think so? Then what about Kansas, where there was a concerted effort to force public schools to teach that Creationism is as valid an explanation for the origin of the biosphere as is Evolutionary science, hmmm? Fortunately, the judge in that case saw through the Creationist bull and issued a strongly-worded judgement against them, decrying, among other things, their outright lies.
This sort of crap has been attempted again and again, and though the Kansas case is a setback, the Creationist fools will try again. If they succeed, they will profoundly damage education, the sciences, the economy and our very freedom. Intolerant? You're right there: I'd as soon take a baseball bat to every stinkin' Creationist who shows his/her face in a public school! No, make that an axe! Creationists mucking about with public education could cost my granddaughters their lives, and I will NOT sit idly by whilst such attempts are ongoing!

oh em gee, there is equal hostility on both ends of the spectrum. Generalizing is not fair, it is up to the individual how to act and interperate others' actions.

Perhaps because they don't have enough strength in their beliefs that they have to resort to that sort of thing rather than have an actual discussion.
