No, we don't care about that. And we don't hate you. We just want mankind as a whole to behave rationally. And religion prevents that. I don't think theists are bad people, necessarily. They're just irrational. And that irrationality supports the actions of some of the really dangerous folks, like fundamentalist terrorists, war-mongering presidents, hate-filled demonstrators, etc.
It has nothing at all to do with us trying to make you look foolish, or be better than you.

I don't believe I know enough to determine whether or not there will be an afterlife. I certainly hope not, as enlightened Christians say that Hell is life without god, and that's what I've lived for 10 years now and it has sucked very badly. If, after I die, I am no longer plagued by the constant strain of reality and the pain of living, at last I may have peace.

No, but it is quite sad that the millions of atheists will go thru their entire lives without hope, knowing in their minds there is nothing more...than this. All the learning, thoughts, hopes, dreams, experiences, everything...will be lost forever. That must be the lonliest feeling in the world. So to all you proud atheists, while ur laughing at believers, have a good time rolling in ur misery. When you wake up in the middle of the night thinking about how little time you have left, and your body shakes, and your spirit cries out, remember your laughter. Its all you have.

Well, if the atheists are correct then once you stop breathing then there would be nothing else...um..so I doubt that they would really care about laughing or making themselves feel better about being 'right'. I also don't think that most atheists are so petty that they would want to rub it any one's faces. I would also hope that any Christian who was 'right' about the 'afterlife' would not laugh at those who were 'wrong' about it..because that seems pretty damn hypocritical and might land them in hell.

Ah yes, I remember a similar experience relative to Santa. I mean, imagine the disappointment after having stayed up all that time. There I was "just all dressed up and nowhere to go." Reality can be so cruel to childish expectations.

No, man no afterlife means "NO AFTERLIFE."
You don't get 10 seconds.
You just get to be right. But you won't know it, because your dead.
Wrap your head around the futility of life. You don't get any more last-words. You get to be dead - lifeless - non-existing. You get to be not-you.
But, then again, people could stick pins in your eyes, and you'd be dead - who cares? And, if the world comes to a fiery end, you will miss all the agony.
There are good points, and bad points - weigh them carefully my friend.

you get a few seconds to see but that's about it. it is kinda bad not to spread the info that we are either right or wrong. personally i am still trying to figure out what happens when we die. the one that i think would suck would be the one theory i have that once we die we are in a full state of consciences but we are blind, def, mute, and paralyzed. we just sit their, dark, alone just us and our mind. ya, it'll be good for a while but after a few years we'd go nuts. and we can't even spread our nuts-ness to others. ya, that would suck. i hope that doesn't happen.

I believe in the after life, so I will submit your question. On the other hand if I am wrong so what? Have a good day may god bless you.

I'm an atheist and give very little thought to the "afterlife," one way or another.
It would seem rather pointless.
