If it's a baby Bird and you pick it up the mother will never return and the baby will probably end up dying because you will have to teach it to eat and fly and stuff. Remember: Survival of the fittest. If it's a grown bird then get a little piece of wood, and bandage it and take care of the bird. Then after a few weeks you can undo the bandage and let it go.

Grow a sac, pick it up, and break the other wing. Perhaps a new species will evolve from this. It will most likely become a flightless bird. Something like a penguin or flightless Carmigan.

If you want to help it then use something to pick it up. Wear gloves or something. Be careful though not to damage the bird any further. I'm curious how you would help it because I would not know what to do.

Get a shoe box and gently scoop it up.
That way you don't have to tough it.
Remember once you get it you have to take care of it.
Can you afford to take it to the vet?
Also some birds fake a broken wing to get your attention away from their nest that has eggs or babies in it.

Punch holes in the top and sides of a shoe box and scoot it in to the box with the lid, then take it to the vet. (Call the vet first to make sure you won't be responsible for the bill).

use a glove and pick it up. put it in box and give it some food and water. Call the animal shelter, and ask them to come pick it up. never touch it though in the process.

Dont touch it, you might injure it further. Call your local zoo or humane society and see if you can get in touch with a bird rescue person. Let them advise you.
