I was informed yesterday that my 1 year old ShihTzu has an ulcer in/on his eye. The vet was really pushing surgery and told me if I didnot have the operation done he would go blind. I love and adore my dog but with the breed they have so many eye problems I do not want to spend the cash if he will go blind anyway. Also this was not my regular vet, he is out of town for the week.

Get a second opinion if you are not sure. If the dog is in pain or finding it hard to enjoy a normal doggy life that should help you decide.

Go ahead and get a second opinion, but remember, when you brought that dog home, you signed on for life. If your child had an ulcer in his/her eye, would you leave it because of the cash? If so, then you have no problems...
