This isnt about "Race", "Racism", or "Racists", it an American thing.
We like our laws to be upheld and enforced. When our laws are flagrantly violated by an estimated 12 million or more We get upset.
It just so happens that on May 1st, 2006, there were thousands of Mexicans with Mexican flags, signs in spanish and Mexicans claiming "Native" status, marching in the streets of many American cities. Since that time, We have had "A day without immigrants" and many more pro Mexican rallys throughout America.
And Americans did not play the "race" card, the illegals and their supporters have done that. Americans just want what is just and fair by American standards and laws. If that is "Racist" then count me as one too, but remember;I am an AMERICAN citizen with a vote. And I am pissed off!

Racism is the belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. I

t's not even limited to white vs. black, asian vs hispanic. During the great Irish potato famine in the last century, the rather snooty English aristocracy withheld assistance to the starving Irish because they considered the Irish as morally inferior. The English considered the famine was a kind of karmic punishment.

Hitler had the idea that the Germanic Aryans were a "Master Race", and all inferior races should either be subjugated or exterminated. The German high command actually had scales of value for human life. I read once that the Germans calculated (for example; I don't recall the exact figures) that the objective worth of the life of one German was the equivalent of 10 Slovaks or 75 gypsies.

It's hard to believe that one race is superior to all others. Want to denigrate the Pakistanis and Indians? Then explain why they seem to produce such highly intelligent scientists and mathameticians. How about Asians? Oh wait..... there is that nasty, inconvenient fact that they excel scholastically. But what about blacks? Can anyone imagine a more intellectually gifted Secretary of State than Condaleeza Rice? How about singers like Dione Warwick or athletes like Michael Jordan?

All that said, don't confuse racism with natural personal preference. The U.S. is a big "melting pot", but many Germans want their country to remain predominantly populated by ethnic Germans, and who can blame them? It's their country. If I visit Slovakia, I would want to experience authentic Slovak culture, not run into hordes of immigrant Muslims from Morocco. Is that racist? No. Wanting a country to retain its cultural identity is completely defensible. To allow unfettered immigration would simply dilute the national cultural heritage of the host country. Every country can benefit from immigrants, but how silly would it look for immigrants from Kenya joining a Hungarian dance troupe?

People are racist for many reasons, their parents instill those hateful views in them from a very young age. They had a bad experience with one person from a race and make a snap judgement that the whole race is that way. SOme people blame other races for their problems. Some people are scared, and buy into the crazy sterotypes about other races.

People are ignorant and afraid of different races coming to the U.S. because SOME Americans today think just like Hitler and the Nazis did just look at the questions no_amnesty_06 has asked he is a racist.

People are racists because they fear what they do not know.
If a person from another country comes into the US it is automatically thought to be a bad thing. It is not a bad thing when the person entering the US is doing so to make a better life for their family.
All everyone needs to do is learn how to feel empathy to get an understanding of people.

Attitudes and how they turn people off. I don't think I'm a racist because I argue about things as much from one side to the other pointing out who I think is wrong. I was brought up in a black dominated neighborhood and as neighbors we respected each other for what we were. I was one of three caucassions in the 8th grade of grammer school and suffered racial discrimination because I was white. From that I learned a great lesson. Don't force your opinions on others until you know the person and they have knowledge of what you are trying to explain to them. I found that honesty was the best policy. I found that to be true during my military career working side by side with all types of races. If you think someone is stealing your job make sure you know what you are talking about. If you think someone is drawing welfare who shouldn't be, approach them on the subject, find out why and maybe you can help them with a problem they are having and point them in the right direction. The media exploits racism to the point that people get mad and don't talk to each other. How can you learn about other people if you don't converse with them and help each other. Racism SUCKS.... but it continues because people of all colors don't get their heads together and talk it out. Calling each other names and fighting with each other certainly hasn't acccomplished anything, that only makes things worse.

To me its not the race that matters.....I have no problem what so ever with the race of other people....what i have a problem with is the people coming over here illegally and then claiming to be so proud of where there from......If these people are so proud of there race and where there from then why don't they stay there and stop trying to come over illegally.....and for the people who say well its for the opportunity and things are so much better in America.....wheres the pride for your country in that.....if your going to be proud of your country and where your from, you have to be proud of EVERYTHING about it....not just your race.

I think deep down we all want to be the best at something. Racism is a mix of ignorance and this need to feel like we are better than someone else. Saying, "they are stupid" or "I hate them" is an easy mistake to make but one that makes you feel better about yourself. It always sucks when you are categorized in the "them" and not the "us."

Our society can fix this problem. You and I can start the revolution by changing the way we speak and reaching out to those who lump "us" into the "them" category.
