Have you tried using a sticker or reward chart? I potty trained mine at 2 and a half and couldn't have done it without stickers!!! Initially, all he kept doing was sitting on the potty to get a sticker, but he soon got the idea and then I took off nappies altogether. Remember that while a child is still wearing nappies, they will continue to use them. I know this will create a lot of washing and hard work but it is sooooo worth it if you persevere!!!

I took off my sons diaper and he made an accident and did NOT like it. If your son is ready, you'll know. It kind of just happens. He'll tell you when his diaper is dirty. But I helped speed the process along by just taking the whole thing off. You can also get padded underwear and put it on him instead of a diaper. He'll make a mess, but the underwear is padded so it soaks up a lot of the mess. good luck with this!

p.s. I've successfully potty trained two kids now, my youngest is still in diapers though.

Constantly ask them if they need to go to the toilet & keep taking thm to the bathroom and asking them in they need to use the toilet.

Don't forget kids do things at different ages - there is no set age when they should be out of nappies. You can push thm too far that they refuse so make it a game. I use to make silly noises whilst going to toilet in front of my kids & now they are no shy to go & that is a good thing in my book. Its the most natural thing that we do so don't worry.

Good luck :-)

I'm watching your question. My son is driving me crazy, some days he goes running into the potty telling me he has to go and I get there and find out he already went, in his diaper. Other days, he just doesn't say a word to me. I think it's a boy thing.

Last night, he peed all over the floor when I tried the no diaper thing. AUGH, it's not possible to make him sit on the potty all day, so fusterating. Someone told me to bribe them with chocolate or cookies, I'm ready to go there!

First of all use a potty trainer. Get him to sit on it now and then with lots of praise and encouragement. Then a seat to fit on the toilet seat so that he feels safe and secure. A step up would be useful too so that it's not such a physical obstacle. Stay with him so that the doesn't feel abandoned.

buy a toddlers toilet seat. around £1.75 from Asda. Sit them on it until they use the toilet and take them to the toilet every so often. Once they realise what the toilet is for they will ask for it. My boy is 3 in July and uses the toilet on his own with a step to climb on. He tells me he's going to the toilet too.
You do have to excuse the odd accident though.

It's gonna suck for you for a while, but just start putting him in underpants. He won't like the feeling of being wet, so should get better about using the potty. Means LOTS of laundry for a while, but trust me the results are worth it. I'd still put a diaper or pull up on at bed and naptime, though.

A good thing that will help are the new pull ups that get cold when the child uses the bathroom. This will make him more aware of when he goes and will eventually learn to go to the bathroom before his pants get cold.

Hey if I could crap my pants and make someone change it hell yah I would. Take off the damn diaper so he can feel whats going on. Now is the best time of year to let him run around naked too then he can learn how to use it.
