If you're on a budget, I'm with Ladyshy- start at a fabric store. Please don't be afraid to be creative-here's how: First, choose your theme (the look of your room) next look around your house for items with potential like lamps, throw pillows, ugly pictures, old bookshelves etc. Bring a sample of your pait to a fabric store & pick some soilds & prints & TEXTURES to coordinate with your vision. Buy a can of spray adhesive & a spool of good thread. Recover your throw pillows. Spray adhesive old lamp shades & recover them with your new fabric, scuff, then spray paint the lamp bases to match. Take apart old framed art prints, spray paint all the frames to match your room, take apart the mats under the frame and paint them or spray adhesive your fabric to them & swap out the old ugly print with a print from a book you may have or a poster or maybe a flattened object such as a flower. Maybe take the glass out of an old picture frame you don't use and orrange a collage of your favorite photos on your night stand and lay the glass on top! Re paint furniture. There is soooo much you can do for so little money with WAY better results than you'd get buying new! EVERYTHING can be altered to suit your design! Also, sweetie, try looking in your local dollar store for items (you'll start to look at things differently once you see that they are easily changed thru a little spray paint & such!) and I'm sure you'll get even more ideas! Trust me, once you get started with a project, it's hard to stop...you'll think of even more to do! Good luck!

go look at stores and see what you like (to see your style). you can even go to a grocery store and look at the decorating magazines or check out home decorating books at a nearby public library or even the hardware store. They've got a lot of ideas of rooms that are already "put together" so you can see what you like and dislike which might give you a few ideas. I think you might want another color to go with the pink, as an accent color. Then you can start shopping for drapes, new bedding, lamp shade to coordinate with your pink.

Today, any colors can match with any other colors, it's all in presentation and pattern choice. You need to go with what YOU like, because you will be the one living there! If you like a certain motif, perhaps, stars or stripes or whatever, go with that and have fun! It's always refreshing to redo a room.

What about a white shaggy retro rug and white vases and accents. You could also add some silver/stainless steel accents like candlestick holders and photos and for a splash of colour, a couple of red throw pillows on the couch or loveseat.

I think pink and black look great together. You can actually make a couple of things. go to a fabric store and you will get lots of ideas, maybe a black throw over your bed with pink toss pillows. Pink and Black lamp shade. Black rug with touch of pink with your own decoration (Stencils), Black wall decors made from the fabric you bought for your bed throw. :)

Decide what look you want. With pink, I would think it would be really pretty if you did a "Shabby Chic" look. Google it.
