If the pope stated that the whole NT was made up, and they had been hiding it for years because they didnt want to admit to it being a scam. If they stated that it was created just so a few people could control the world once the Roman Empire adopted christian beliefs.

Fine if the head of your denomination said it, whoever it may be, and the Catholic church produced the bones of Christ and a letter from one of the apostles/disciples explaining why they pulled the hoax. It could all be proven with no doubt left in your mind.

My belief in GOD doesn't hinge on any mortal man's words or actions. I love and believe in GOD on the basis of who he is to me and what personal experiences I have had in him. I worship the creator not the created!

Not for me. I don't believe that the Pope has cornered the market on everything that is "right." Don't take that wrong, I think the Pope is a good source of insight in faith, I just don't believe that he is as righteous as the Catholic faith believes.
So, if the Pope would come out and say something crazy like "the New Testament is a lie" I would have no problem dismissing that.

The Catholics probably would. They'd say the antichrist had come to the Earth and had either taken over the Pope (like a demon taking over somebody and needing to be exorcised) or was the Pope. In short, that Pope wouldn't have a very long time to live, not that they do in the beginning considering how old they have to be to be Pope.

Excuse me, I am a Christian, not a popist. I read the Bible. The pope hasn't got anything to do with me or many of the worlds Christians. No disrespect to the Pope meant.

I am a Christian, but the pope doesn't control me or many others like me. And the pope has nothing to do with my faith either way. I believe in Jesus not the pope.

The Pope means more to Catholics than to Protestants.
Personally speaking, I would still believe the Holy Word of God regardless of what was said about it. God wrote it. No one's opinion is going to make me believe otherwise.

Of course I would believe in God, because God existed before the NT.
BTW, do you still believe in evolution despite the past fossilized scams that people tried to pawn off in the 19th and 20th centuries. There are some very legit aspects to evolution, but there have been quite a bit of scams to fill in the gaps that still exist today.

for starters that wouldnt happen because without the new testament then the pope would have no basis to say that then theyd have to say the pope is a lie too and i can see that happening. the rest of this statement is to some of the other answers thats been stated, i find some of them guite humorous, repulsive and heart breaking at the same time. you say the bible is lies, well then tell us whats true if you can. what you have to realize is just because you say its lies doesnt mean that it is who are you that we should take you at your word. whats your stating is just an opinion thats all nothing more. like it or not there was a man named jesus christ. he did die on a cross. that is factual if ya dont believe me then just look at todays date june 21 2006 A.D. hey if ya dont believe the bible then i guess all the worlds histoy text books are wrong too. cause up until jesus time counted down B.C. before christ. after his birth time counted up. these things are facts and the bible records his teachings. if you call the bible a book of lies then your callin jesus one also, but thats fine you are entitled to your opinion but just remember thats all it is an opinion youve got no proof what so ever that its lies. the heart breaking part of it all is the ignorance people have of the bible and its meaning. like it or not jesus died for a cause. he sacraficed himself for mankinds salvation that was his whole purpose for comming jesus said what kind of love have a man than he lay down his life for his friends. right there he identifies all of us you, me, your mom your dad children everyone as friends and shows us what kind of love he had for us all he just didnt talk it he walked it. could you lay down your life for a stranger you dont even know or a homeless person youve never seen or even a child you dont know thats on his or hers death bed could you? we know jesus was real he died for a cause and people cant appreciate that it doesnt tug at your heart strings in the least? but hey thats ok heaven isnt for everybody if you cant accept jesus christ as your lord and savior thats your choice but dont call something a lie when youve honestly got no proof that it is that just shows your lack of understanding
