The reason there are so many false religions is that Satan is working to confuse mankind and deny God the worship which the Almighty deserves:
(2 Corinthians 4:3,4) If, now, the good news we declare is in fact veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing, 4 among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through
It is very surprising that most people do not use any form of the divine name. It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". If we want a familiar and close relationship, however, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name.
The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) seems to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.
The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".
(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth
(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them
That last Scripture helps self-described Christians understand that they also should be working to make known God's name by means of house-to-house preaching. Which religion is doing that?
Jehovah's Witnesses.

God, like any other word, is translated into different languages. Different languages come from different cultures, and different religions spur from the cultures. There is not right or wrong way to say God's name depending on how you believe, just like there is not a right or wrong religion. When people read the Bible, they are reading what another human wrote about history. You will find Moses and Noah and Adam and Eve in all the different religions. It is really up to personal preference.

Jehovah wasn't used by the Jews.
Your second question - well without cutting and pasting an answer, I believe the JW's are the ones who have changed their version of the Bible to fit their own thinking. How many other established religions make predictions that have haven't happened because of false prophecies?

If people would not look towards man for their salvation, but towards God, Jesus is the doorway to God, then they would know what their Bibles say, and would not care so much what man says. Let the Bible be it's own interpreter. A teacher once told me that there are just 3 rules to Bible study, 1) context, 2) Context, 3) CONTEXT. Always read verses in context with other verses.

At least in the Bible, God goes by many names. One was even "I am who I am" or something to that effect. God is omnipotent and beyond our comprehension probably, so why lock him down with an actual name? What name would suffice? It's like that Jewel song, "If God had a name, what would it be, and would you call it to his face?"

You are right that people should take the Bible for what it says because it is the infallible Word of God. Yahweh, is derived from the Hebrew verb Hayah which means "to be". So basically, God said to Moses to tell the Hebrews that "I AM" was sending Moses to them. So basically Yahweh means "I AM". There are many names for God, including, Yahweh, Elohim, etc.

For the same reason I refer to my father as "Dad" rather than Keith. I don't use his name because I have such a close relationship with him that I can call him Dad.
God is my Heavenly Father and I am his beloved child. His name is not Jehovah, the closest we can get is YHWH, but it doesn't matter. I can call him Father.

I am a Jehovah's Witness; I believe his name should be used to gain a personal relationship with Jehovah.

A lot of people try to serve a God they neither know nor understand. Those who interpret the scriptures to their personal liking serve their own interests and desires.
