I just got a prepaid credit card to help me establish my credit. Its seems like a better option to just "load" how much money you want on your card, but has anyone had any problems with it such as making hotel or rental car reservations? or do you know if its a pretty good card?

Works just like a regular card, till you are out of money. Thing to be careful though, companies like to put a hold on your credit card for more than the amount you were quoted, in case you get room service or such. So, if the card has $500 on it, and the room will cost, $250, don't be surprised if they put a hold on it for $350 to $500, limiting what else you can buy until you settle up with the hotel.

Hotels want a card that you can be billed for any damages that might occur. Some people do a lot of damage to their hotel room, or start a fire, and may require you have a credit card without a limit. Your prepaid card won't have enough money on it to make the hotels happy. They want to be insured that they can charge you say up to $5,000. If you have a prepaid card hand on to it, but it will NOT do anything to establish your credit standing. Its like paying cash, only in a plastic form not in dollars. Sorry to give you such bad news! Same with rental car situations, if you have a card that is worth $25,000 then they will but not if you have a $100 card, even a $500 card, won't pay for the car should you damage the engine doing donuts or go 4 wheel driving, and have a car accident your crd won't cover your damage so they won't honor your card.

Yes they will accept it, just make sure you have enough money to cover the charge to it. I had used mine in Toronto, Canada and they had no idea. it works like a credit card. I have had no problems using it for reservations, and in fact i really like using the Wired plastic card. My GF and I both have them.

If the prepaid card has the emblem of a major CC company (VISA, MC, etc etc..) on it, it is accepted by any business that accepts that card

iwas told no when i tried to rent a car. i would think someplaces wouldn't mind because it is a form of i.d., some hotels would probably require you to have a certain amount on to cover damages. so i suppose some do and some don't.

It shouldn't matter. As long as there is enough money on the card to cover the expenses you should be OK.
