I had a big bad Marine get mad at me today at the Big Boy Restaurant just because I said the Iraq war will go down in defeat like Vietnam. He jumped up and his chest went out and he started to yell at me so I pulled out my A.C.L.U. Card and the horrified pitiful look on the Marines's face was astounding. He then started to shake like a leaf and his face turned white. ( Amazing since he is a Black Man ) So how come people are scared of me just because I belong to the A.C.L.U.?

The ACLU is our nation's guardian of liberty. We work daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. Our job is to conserve America's original civic values: the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Well now i can not comment on the A.C.L.U because i have no idea what it stands for. But i would like to comment on your comment about a Marine getting mad at you. my comment is POPPYCOCK. that's an English word for Crap. Just as your Entire Fantasy of the story you have just told. If that had really happened the way you say it did. I do believe you would never have had time to get out the ACLU card before you hit the ground Unconscious. After the Marine hit you.

The ACLU is a type of watchdog organisation, very liberal, that attacks conservative measures in the United States. They are very powerful, and are on the lookout for anything Christian, conservative, or "backwards." Because they are so progressive and aggressive, they have won quite a few court cases against small, poorly financed organisations. They are seen by many as a threat to conservative, traditional values. A main target of the ACLU is the current administration in Washington, which includes the armed forces. Thus, this marine might have been "frightened." Although i wonder why you pulled out your card at all, what good did you think this would do? This post seems more like a brag story than an authentic question.

They wouldn't be scared. They'd be disgusted.

The A.C.L.U. does not understand one very simple concept: society cannot function if every person has some exaggerated right to whine about any little thing that doesn't suit his or her personal preferences.

The A.C.L.U. acts like the United States is an unsinkable ship, and that they can keep taking shots at it. Liberals act like the U.S. is some inexhaustible machine that will never break down under the stress, like a bank account that has endless funds.

They act as if society can still function when every single little whiny complaint can be disputed in a court. They don't have the sense to realize that if everything a normal society should be able to take for granted is endlessly questioned and challenged, society will fall apart.

The A.C.L.U. does not grasp that a society needs to stress peoples' responsibilities at least as much as their rights, and that for a society to function, people need to exercise self-restraint and tolerance.

So am I afraid of people who support the A.C.L.U.? No, but I am repulsed by their naivete. They are so smug. In their arrogance, they think they are protecting America, but they are destroying it by making the cohesive fabric of society unravel.

You can't even have a Christmas display anymore.

ACLU. isn't tht the group that says we have to change the pledge of allegiance, are not allowed to pray in school even if we want to, and has turned the word Christmas into a curse word worse then dropping an F bomb. The ACLU doesn't guard against anything. They don't protect our liberties, they auction them off to the highest bidder with the richest law suit.

On top of that I think you are full of beans, a so called member of the ACLU that had to point out the fact that the Marine was black, would you have asked this question if he was white?

One nation Under God.
Merry Christmas.
God bless.

Boy did you whack a bees nest!

I think the ACLU is a boatload of hypocritical, anti-American people. Why do I feel that way you ask?

Well because they are all over anyone and everyone if we mention God in school or anywhere on/around a government building. It is quickly becoming almost illegal to mention God or Christ in public because of the ACLU and a bunch of other nutjobs because they got offended. You know what? TOUGH NUGGIES. Welcome to America. Land of the free, home of the brave. You have the freedom to pursue happiness bit it is never guaranteed! If it offends you, leave the area, stop listening or turn it off!!

The ACLU is all over anything Christian and all about getting it out of every day American life but willing to fall on a sword to get Allah or the Koran ok in school, a pro homosexual agenda in school or whatever else is currently anti-christian.

I have yet to see the ACLU defend a Christian in anything and put it out on the America wide wire.

Having said that, I truly believe in the IDEA of the ACLU. BUT they seem to leave the right wing on the edge of a cliff and then nudge them off at every chance. They seem to pick and choose what they defend. They pick everything anti christian and choose to call those who defend it an extremist.

As for the Marine, I doubt he was afraid of you. I am in the Navy and you don't frighten me in the least. The only thing that frightens me is people like you and what you think you are doing is actually helpfull to American society.

But I will continue to defend your right to free speech. I and my friends will continue to provide you a blanket of freedom to stay warm under. What have you done to make America better recently?

Let me ask Mr. ACLU, exactly what good our the bill of rights going to be for you and me when a jihadist from al queda has our heads down on a table and a saw to our necks simply for being American, Capitalist, Infidels? I'm just curious if that ACLU card is some how going to stop that saw....OR IS THAT MARINE going to stop it for you?

Hmm, maybe the Marine was confused and didn't realize what ACLU was. Or if he DID know what ACLU was, he probably realized how you manage to win frivalous lawsuits and thought you'd sue him for defending his views and his country. You would probably conjure up some story that he assaulted you or something.

I think you should change your name to ABACLU (Anything But American Civil Liberties Union) or CLOIWAWY (Civil Liberties Only if We Agree With You).

No one is afraid of you or the ACLU, they just don't know how to deal with people who can't think for themselves or an organization that is so large and so useless. Don't let it bother you it is just pity not fear.

I wouldn't be afraid of you, I would be disgusted. The idea behind the ACLU is good, but it has gone completely corrupt as far as I'm concerned.

That is a big fat lie and you know it. The ACLU is a Communist front organization and should be destroyed.
