My girl is a husky mix, and she can swim, but she doesn't like to get wet. I think it has to do with their undercoat, they stay wet forever!! If she likes to chase toys, toss it in the water, that's how I got Lola in.
It's cool you have a doggie beach. They closed the doggie beach here.... now I have to drive almost an hour to take them to the beach where they can be off leash. My other dog LOVES the water... dunks her head in to try and catch fish, swims, splashes, but Lola, well, she may just be prissy.
Good luck!

All dogs can swim, but it may need to get used to the water. Play little games with her at the water line and when she goes in a little, give her a treat.

I thought all dogs can swim! LOL. although mine is afraid to get near water, my friends threw their Corgi off a boat, and it was swimming like no 2morrow! haha! He had a blast. I guess it depends! But i think siberian husky can swim because they use to live in ice right? so... ice.. water? eh? good answer? lol

Being so well suited to cold environments it is probably instinctual for a Husky to be afraid of water. Contact with water in an arctic or sub-arctic area is often deadly.

its promble its on fomiler on how far to go or just scared of the water but as you bring your dog more to the beach the better your dog will be for the next time you go.

if you pushed her of a ledge into the water then yes she will swim, its a natural instinct. my saint can swim but only paddles, if i run along the pier then she swims along beside me, but thats the only time she swims. the first time she swam my b/f decided to jump of the pier but the shock of the water was to much and he couldnt swim back , i had to swim to him and as i did my dog did behind me, when i got to my b/f my dog tried to use him as a leaning post lucky enough she listened to me and swam beside us or my b/f would of drowned! funny but stupid and he wont do that again in a hurry.

Mine always did. It's a personal preference with most dogs, and some just don't like water, or they may just be afraid of it. If you get in yourself, and coax her in with a favorite toy, and do everything you can to make it a pleasant experience, she may learn to like it.
Good luck!

I play fetch with mine near the water and she will go in as far as she is comfortable. Just continue to work with her.

give her time...not all breeds are water happy...all dogs can swim if they have to, but until she becomes familiar with the water...she won't just start swimming
