They are intentionally trying to keep you confused and in the dark because smart people who know what's going on probably would never re-elect them. Once they get in, they try really hard to stay in.

There are several reasons for this.

One reason is they don't know who they are talking to. If Bill O'Reilly asks the question, they know what to say that won't ignite his wacko view of fair and balanced. Because they all know that Bill O'Reilly is unbalanced, they tell him what he wants to hear.

But if Lou Dobbs asks the question, they will give him a reliable answer.

The problem is that they are sticking close to the fence on the issue of illegal immigration.

I am a political pollster. I work for one of the places like Gallup, Roper or Harris polls. I work for one of those agencies.

Those pollsters are taking surveys on that issue right now. Politicians won't know what the people say until the poll data is gathered, collected and sent to the wire services.

So politicians aren't going to say anything until the polling data is in.

What I do, because I work for a political research firm, is to go to the candidate directly. I ask in town hall meetings, I call their offices and ask questions and I make sure I have access. Not because I am a pollster, but because I am a citizen.

I cannot tell anyone on company time what my poltical affiliation is. And I cannot tell anyone where I work or what I do if I am in a town hall meeting.

But the politicians know who i am because I am at as many town hall meetings as I can get to when I am off the company clock.

I work, I pay taxes and I know who my elected representatives, Congressmen and Senators are. And they know me. I just tell them to cut the crap and lay it on the line.

They do. They know my name is Roseknows and they know that I know what they want to know.

Because decisions must be made with tact and forethought. Actions cannot be taken without going through the proper governmental channels. Although this may seem inefficient, it is how our great country was designed. This prevents monarchy or dictatorship and enables the majority vote to decide how major issues are handled. I hope this answer is sufficient to clarify the issues for you.

No straight answer on anything. Not ever. That's one of the defining traits of a politician.

This is politics you are referring too. There are no straight or honest answers, just what people want to hear.

I think many of us wonder about this. My guess is that they are too busy for the citizens but at he same time the citizens is who they are suppose to be working for. Somehow they have seperated their titles and offices apart from us.They forget they are working for us.

They are too busy riding the fence they haven't built. They want to cater to both sides and I wish they'd fall off into Mexico.
