I like what one pastor said when he said,
"Those that believe in Jesus will continue to believe. Those that doubt will still doubt and those that seek will continue to seek. It's not going to change the world."

The Da Vinci Code was a fiction novel written about true historical and religious events. Since it was just a fiction story, Dan Brown was able to twist reality, distort truth, and make up facts and events in order to support the plot of the novel. This contortion of truth led to heated debate, severed beliefs, and a many confused people. What people must realize is that the book is fiction and the topics and events discussed in it, although based upon actual historical events, are not all true. Each controversial statement brought up by the book could be answered individually but it would take too long. The best advice I can give is to read a book called The Da Vinci Code: A Quest for Answers by Josh McDowell. It goes through and compares the issues brought up in the book to actual history and answers the question of what is true and what is false.

Don't try to search his historical accuracies as his books are books of fiction. For instance the Dead Sea Scrolls do not have anything regarding, Jesus, Mary Magdalene, Christianity etc. The Jesuits had nothing to do with the dissolution of the Knights Templar. The Knights Templar were dissolved in the early 1300s. The Jesuit order was founded in the 1500s. Opus Dei is an organization which is controversial among some Catholics as they feel it demands a rigidity in its members. Because of that the organization will become a target for writers of sensationalism.

Did you know that more Bibles have been taken from Hotel rooms since the release of "The Da Vinci Code" than in recorded history? My opinion of the Book/Movie is that it has sparked more interest in Jesus Christ than any Movie ever has. Even though the book was a work of Fiction, it has lead Millions to seek the Truth. Pretty Cool if you ask me.

There is so much that present day religion just ignores such as the Dead Sea Scrolls. Those that want to maintain the status quo will go for the details in "The Da Vinci Code" and find fault with them. The point that is obscured, though, is that present day religion has a lot to answer for in keeping opinions (writings of that day) out of the Bible that don't conform to the belief system that they adhere to. I think Dan Brown has done us all a great service by getting us to question long-held "beliefs" so that we may develop our own spirituality instead of the cookie cutter systems that are prevalent in the present era.

It is a book of fiction ... He used some real places and names to give it some familiarity. He made up actions and people and mixed it all together to be a WORK OF FICTOIN!! Not a terribly well written book .. but fun fiction , entertaining.
The hoopla is about people who are insecure about their own beliefs and need someone to blame for their own lack of faith.
I dont recall too many folks running around in a panic waving their hands in the air over the Harry Potter series!!! another bit of fiction with some reality and a lot of made up action and people.

If we ignore all of the religious aspects and look at the Latin, history and art we realize that it is MISTER Brown and not Dan Brown PhD.
He doesn't know his stuff on even mundane things.
Dum means "while" in Latin not God; the word he wanted was Deus.
The problem is people know that the plot is fictitious but they don't understand that mundane elements of the book are fictious as well.
He might as well have set the book on the planet Venus.
We can only be satisfied that it is far from a litterary masterpiece and will be forgotten in a number of years

I think he puts forth an interesting theory (one that HE did NOT create himself) in his book. I believe that it is a work of fiction but that the theory itself was interesting. I think the Christians (not all, but the few who are freaking out about the movie/book) need to calm down. If y'all don't believe it - than leave it alone. Just because your not secure with your own faith doesn't mean that others shouldn't be allowed to see the movie/read the book.
I personally, think the theory of Mary Magdalene and Jesus' daughter to be EXTREMELY plausible and to makes much more sense than anything in the bible. Also, the fact that the VATICAN boycotted the book/movie makes it seems like they have something to hide.

Dan Brown is causing scandal because he wants to resurrect pagan religions. The Docciere Secret or the Secret Documents that were in France that supposidley linked Jesus and Mary Magdalene with the Marivigian line of French rulers is a work of fiction, the Author of it swore to it's falsehood in court.

This is the true statement made. All you non believers please read what I write and learn the lesson to follow.
-This is a movie made from a book that is fiction. Any trueth within these pages has no proof so it in itself lies as a dormant comment. Ye who dwells in ignorance come and pay to see my movie so that I and all the people that worked on it, yes even the toilet cleaning guy, can become wealthy and retire somewhere in Florida. Thanks for all your contributions.- :-P
By the way, this movie is even going to make more money because all these blind religious groups are telling everyone don't see it. What better advertisement is there. Thank you blind religious people. CASHING $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Read the book. No big deal. Don't know who Dan Brown is and couldn't care less what statements he made. Why don't people like you just forget about the stupid book and movie. It's over. Find something else.
