It's possible. Are you talking RAM or ROM? And why is this under infectious diseases? Because Dell and Compaqs are both horrible things? That's true.

It depends on the type of Dell and Compaq.
There are two reasons why you may not get too many relavent answers to this question:

1. You posted it under the wrong catagory.
2. You didn't even explain what model of Dell and Compaq you are asking about.

So I can say, yes it may be possible for Compaq ram to be used in a Dell, but without more data you are on your own to figure out for sure. Check out the link below for a pretty good Ram configurator guide.
