a friend of mine came over with some pu erh tea and bragged she had lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks from just drinking the tea. so i did some googling and found out this really is a tea that people in china drink as their "main" drink! i mean they drink it over there as much as we drink coke and pepsi. no wonder they are so thin! while searching, i also discovered many people are using it to lose weight and cleanse their systems. has anyone tried this tea with positive results?

sorry jackson, this stuff does not contain senna. thats not how it works. not only that but your ballerina tea is not the tea i'm speaking of.
Pu erh tea appears to stimulate lipolysis in the adipose tissue, and thus could have an effect in inducing weight loss. Pu erh tea enhances vasodilation and blood flow in human subjects, an action with implications for lipolysis. Studies have documented that pu erh ingestion reduces triacylglycerol in human subjects carrying specific alleles. Gallic acid present in pu erh tea extract suppresses food intake in animals. Pu erh components such as theaflavins, modulates AP1 (activator protein 1), a nuclear binding protein (transcription factor), an action relevant to weight loss. They also inhibit IkappaB kinase (IKK), an enzyme activity implicated in the promotion of obesity.
