my kitchen is red--it took three coats even w/ a tinted primer. my floor is b/w checkered tile (on the diagonal). My cabinets are a white w/ a off-white/butter yellow trim. I also have white beadboard.
God, it sounds like a lot, but it is very retro and i LOVE it!! Good choice w/ the red!

Any dark colour is given a bad look by smoke of vegetable oils or other fats used for frying of food. Better paint with some light grey paint, so that the natural lust may not be destroyed by the smoke. Of course the paint may get sowewhat darker in greyish look, but would not give such a bad look, as read, green or blue colours give after getting smokey.

I just had my kitchen redone and I went with a mauve color. My daughter called me after it was done and said " oh my god mom the kitchen is pink " When I got home it did look pinkish but I love it. It matches my counter tops, which are a burgandy color and so is the carpet. I think it all looks great and It's my kitchen so I really don't care what any one thinks.

French united states blue. i presumed that my kitchen might want to look darker, I have darkish brown cabinets, cream counter tops, even if the blue seems particularly effective. you could also attempt a effective buttery yellow. bypass on your paint stor and get the paint chips, tape them to the wall and look at them for an afternoon or 2. then you will see the colors contained in the diverse lights. The blue might want to bypass effective with the black!
