Depends on the fighter. Some fighters need extra motivation. Take a look at Dundee. "You're blowing it kid, you're blowing it.." Then Sugar ray Leonard fires him (what a jerk). Sometimes you need a technician---Emmanuel and Futch were great at that. Sometimes you need your dad to slap you around like Trinidad Sr. who literally slaps his kid in the ring. Sometimes you need a trainer who finds your weknesses and makes you into a great fighter like Freddie Roach. In the end, you gotta go with Dundee though. He did it all for Ali and Leonard. Too bad the trainers don't always get the credit that they deserve.

Mike Tyson's first trainer, Cus Amato(not sure of last name). Tyson would probably still be champ if Cus would not have died and Don King got Tyson in his clutches!!!

It's Gus D'Amato who first trained Tyson ...
Excellent as he was, I would have to go with Lou Duva as the best and D'Amato and Emanuel Stewart duking it out for second place

i think Cus D'amato and Emmanuel Steward are great.. but, i also
think not enough credit is given to Angelo Dundee, i think he
pulled Ali thru a lot of fights, plus people forget he worked with
Carmen Basilio and Sugar Ray Leonard.. he also trained Jimmy Ellis, Luis Rodriguez, Sugar Ramos, Ralph Dupas, Willie Pastrano, and George Foreman........ remember when he told Leonard, "you're blowing it, son" in the Hearns fight?.... i think i'll have to go with Dundee..

mick has to be the best. he trained rocky to beat apollo creed, clubber lang, ivan drago, and tommy "the machine" gunn. and he called him "a bum".
