Accounting is more important to government than the general population. It is an amazing system of having billions of people figure out, free of charge, how much the government is going to take from your table.

Accounting keeps track of the beans coming in and the beans going out. If you want to have a successful business, then you want more beans coming in. The same premise holds true for sheep, corn, money and automobiles.
Accounting also helps to keep the bean hoarders in line, unless the accountant is one of those who tries to get more beans that he is worth.

For check & balancing. There has to be a method to be able to go back and make sure that everything adds up or doesn't add up and accounting is one way!
