Will the Presbyterian Church gain or lose members now that they allow this feminist liturgy?

Church looks at gender-inclusive Trinity

The divine Trinity — "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" — could also be known as "Mother, Child and Womb" or "Rock, Redeemer, Friend" at some Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) services under an action Monday by the church's national assembly.
Delegates to the meeting voted to "receive" a policy paper on gender-inclusive language for the Trinity, a step short of approving it. That means church officials can propose experimental liturgies with alternative phrasings for the Trinity, but congregations won't be required to use them.
"This does not alter the church's theological position, but provides an educational resource to enhance the spiritual life of our membership," legislative committee chairwoman Nancy Olthoff, a lay member from Iowa, said during Monday's debate on the Trinity.

I serve as an Elder on the Session of a PCUSA church. PCUSA is by far the largest branch of Presbyterians in the US. Here is the key portion to the article:

"Delegates to the meeting voted to "receive" a policy paper on gender-inclusive language for the Trinity, a step short of approving it. That means church officials can propose experimental liturgies with alternative phrasings for the Trinity, but congregations won't be required to use them."

The General Assembly basically said that "thanks, but not thanks" to the authors of this report. It "received" the report instead of approving, which is a slap in the face to the authors. This issue will do little, if anything, to divide the denomination.

The issue that will cause the denomination to lose members and even large numbers of congregations is the approval of the so called "Peace, Unity and Purity" report. Once of the recommendations allows the local churches and presbyteries to determine what is "essential" in ordaining a pastor. If the local presbytery decides that following biblical guidelines on sexual sins is not "essential", then they can ordain someone who is actively engage in a lifestyle that is contrary to the Bible. PCUSA has been declining in membership for years and the rate of decline is expected to double becuase of passing this recommendation.

The Presbyterian church is already broken into 2 different "factions" the Presbyterian Church USA and then just the Presbyterian Church. I don't think they will lose members I just think that the ones who want to use the Feminine Ideals will probably break off into a new "faction". I grew up Presbyterian and am even looking skeptically at this new way of thinking.

Really that question was settled long ago. Nothing new can hurt the Presbyterian church now- it had been dead for about 25 years. The leadership has acknowledged it.

A woman bore Jesus to birth, right? God could be a woman, right?

I don't have a problem with it at all, but the traditional role of religion in "organized" society has been to devalue and oppress women, so there will doubtless be objection.
