The driver of the car quickly u-turned and sped off but a very nice couple followed the car and got the license plate number. I got a police report and called the insurance company but got very little help. They gave me the story about I only had liability and its not much they can do. I didn't go to the hospital even though I had lower back pain and severe headaches, i just took Tylenol to ease the pain. Can someone tell me what can I get the Insurance company and the Police to do so I can be compensated because my car suffered major driver side and front-end damage beyond repair?

Having the license number and a witness is a great thing. Since your insurance company won't help, you can sue the owner of the car, and his/her insurance company seperately. Get an attorney! Sometimes just mentioning that you have representation can get a lot done. The witness testimony can guarantee that you will win, since the other driver fled the scene. They can be charged with not performing the duties of a driver and spend a little time in jail.

If you chose an insurance coverage which reimburses you only if you are responsible in an accident, then indeed, your story with your insurance is over. However, these people who hit you must repay you. Hopefully, you took the car to be inspected by a mechanic for an estimate and you can have the police send it to them. Go back to the police and give them a copy of the estimate for repairs or replacement. They can pursue the person in the hit and run until you are made whole. If that person does not co-operate, you might have to sue. You have witnesses and a police report, you stand to win the case. As for your personal injuries, I would go get a check-up ASAP. Often you just feel a headache but you mighht have a concussion and later complications. The people who hit you are liable for that too. Get busy!

hello,
If you only have liability insurance and you don't have the other drivers insurance name and policy number then there isn't a lot anybody can do to help you get your car fixed or to reimburse you for injuries. If the police can catch the driver and notify you weather OR not they have insurance your screwed. I am really sorry but with him hitting and then driving away so quickly it is my ques that they didn't have insurance or to many accidents and didn't want to raise his insurance rates again. If it was me i would stay in touch with the police and see if they catch the person for that car. That is about the only option you have.

Because of the coverage you had on your car, there is nothing you can do. Unless the person who hit you has liability insurance,
which would cover your car. You must wait for the police to issue him with a ticket until you can call him about fixing your car.
