ISLAAM IS FASTEST GROWING RELIGON The second-largest religion in the world after Christianity, Islam is also the fastest-growing religion. In the United States, for example, nearly 80 percent of the more than 1,200 mosques have been built in the past 12 years.

Some scholars see an emerging Muslim renaissance as Islam takes root in many traditionally Christian communities.

Islam has drawn converts from all walks of life, most notably African-Americans. Former NAACP President Benjamin Chavis, who joined the Nation of Islam recently, personifies the trend.

"In societies where you have minorities that are discriminated against, I think they may find an appeal in Islam," said Waleed Kazziha of American University in Cairo.

Many moderate Islamic countries such as Turkey and Egypt are becoming more conservative.

Two decades ago, few middle-class Egyptian women wore scarves or veils on their heads. Now they crowd into special emporiums that advertise Islamic clothing.

The shift toward Islamic fundamentalism worries many in the secular world, a fear underscored when splinter groups target Westerners with violent attacks.

Actually the fastest growing religion according to percentage is not Islam, but Wicca. The number of adherents went from 8000 in 1990 to 134000 in 2001; their numbers are doubling about every 30 months. (U.S. stats) In Canada the number of adherents was 21.080 in 1991, a 281% increase since 1990. When some of the stats come out about Islam becoming the fastest growing religion they don't take into account the birth rate of where Islam primarily is compared to where other religions are prominent. The birth rate is higher in Middle Eastern countries than in the west.

The word "fad" is an acronym of "For A Day" only... Such is the fleeting plight of the common man in search for INSTANT GRATIFICATION. The admen market it through flashy presentation and they exploit it with peer group acceptance.

It truly does not matter which vehicle travels the fastest.

What matters more is the DIRECTION that one is heading, regardless whether you are riding or walking on the True Path...

Peace be with you!

islam, and the reason is alot of christians and other religions are converted by islam after finding what they wanted in this mighty religion, if people knew the real islam, as a relgion of love (as Prophet mohammed said: muslims are like one body, if something hurt one organ all of the organs will be slepless and effected).
but people from other religions sadly say lies about this religions including this site. didnt you asked yourself why media hate islam this much? Muredrs like Osama bin laden are in every religions but only muslims are effected by bad people from thier religion.
