"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3)
This is the clearest definition I can find in the Bible. Heaven seems to be the place, but the knowledge of God is the possession.

You need to first start with the knowledge of God to eternally have life with Him in Heaven. Eternal life is your soul resting in the Kingdom of God, forever.

"Eternal Life, or exaltation, is to inherit a place in the highest degree in the Celestial Kingdom, where we will live in God's presence and continues as families." -True to the Faith
The celestial kingdom, or heaven, has several degrees. If we are good enough and do all that we need to, we will be numbered among the best of the best. That is eternal life.

You can have eternal life , which would be in Heaven, only through the grace of God. You must believe and be saved from your sins by Him.

Heaven would be eternal life, the knowledge of God would be like a Christian Nirvana, and once you reach Nirvana in Buddhism, the reincarnation cycles stop and you die for good upon your death.

In a strange way, it is a combination of the two. If you believe in Christ as Lord and that He is the God-risen Savior, you will spend eternity in heaven, where you will be in God's rewarding presence.
On the other hand, hell is separation from God, and while you know OF God (because we stand before God when He judges us all), you will not know God.

Eternal means forever and life means to be with God, so we are forever with God (heaven)(death means to be separated from God; in hell there is death). Another type of life is to be present with each other; death is also meant to move away and pass on and to reach the final destination.

Eternal life is what it says it is. Life without end in heaven. Are you wondering if heaven is real? If so, Jesus said He would go 'there' and prepare a place for His disciples so we have it on good word that such a place exists.
