Experts say it was written in mid=second century A.D. so it is too late to be apostolic. Some say it was written by Gnostic's which doesn't give any truth to anything. What's your take on this subject?

#1. It was written too late to have been written by an apostle or a companion of an apostle.

#2. The content contradicts the rest of the New Testament.

#3. It was never accepted by the early church.

The New Testament was in its complete form before the end of the first century, long before Constantine or the Roman Catholic Church. There never was any reason to accept "The Gospel of Judas."

It would take away from the story of Judas's betrayal of Jesus. Without such a dishonest person to despise, the traitor to our Lord and Savior, Christianity would not be what it is today. Despite the fact that some Christians claim life to be pre-determined by God, the fact that this gospel clearly states that pre-determination somehow becomes sacrilegious. Judas needed to betray Jesus, that much we know. Did he do it out of hate or love? The New Testament says hate or jealousy or spite, whatever. The GofJ claims he did it because Jesus said he needed to do it, that he would be rewarded. It probably was written by Gnostics, which is wonderful. Every Gnostic Gospel I've read has been beautiful.

The early Church closed the Gospels somewhere around 375 CE-- dont quite remember the history and no time now to check in my Library. They used to have these synods and this fellow was becoming very popular with his new teachings--and casting out Devils and thing--. the big boys did not like it so they closed the texts. As for the Gnostics they tried to use Reason sometimes rather than Faith and were rejected even a famous Early Father from Africa was accused of Gnosticism--and thrown out.

Its correct it was written by Gnostics. The Bible says in Revelation 22:18,19 that we should not add to it or take from the Bible. The Bible also says that the deceptions in the days coming to the second coming of Jesus will be so great that if it were possible even the very elect would be decieved. Let us not be deceived, if you read it you will see for yourself that it totally speaks of a different belief that is in the Bible it is so far off it is not hard to see. I read it and it is full of lies and deceit. Let us stick with truth - The Bible.

I personally find it a much more logical take on the story. Jesus was sent here with the one purpose to die for our sins, right? So somebody had to betray him, and that would not have been easy for his appostles considering how much they respected him and what not. Why it's not in the New Testament is because this one Bishop decided to throw out the credibility of over thirty gospels and keep four.

The N.T. Canon was complete c. 95 A.D. The spurious 'gospel of Judas' is c. 425 A.D.

Well, there were eighty one gospels that didn't make it into the new testiment. The book of Mark and Luke wasn't fully compiled until a centuary after christ as well. It was the Council of Alexandria led by Emperor Constantine that decided what should be cannonized and what shouldn't.

Because the gospels were written through the holy spirit, Judas could not have had the holy spirit, for it quotes, the devil entered into him making him betray Jesus.

The Gospel of Judas is not true. It does not follow up with the other four Gospels.
