Do you believe it is ok for people to say that you can't have a dog only because of its breed? Do you believe it's ok for someone to come into your home, take your pet, and murder it because of its breed?

Absolutely not. That's like Hitler killing people because they were Jewish. I believe owners of pit bulls should be licensed. I own two and they are sweet, but the breed is aggressive, like some others. A pit owner should be responsible, but outlaw these wonderful dogs? Never!

NO
I do not think that people should be able to ban certain breeds.
It is not the breed of dog any dog can be dangerous.
I work as a behavorial trainer mostly with large breed assertive dogs like Dobermans. I have been bitten one time by a toy poodle. The bite was not bad becasue ofthe dogs size. I have worked with many "aggressive" dogs and found that is not always true. Some times things are not exactly true to what I have been told. I walk in a find that the dog was trying to defend itselffrom a beating or the child tried to take food away from the dog. Lots of things.
I think all dogs are ok but owners need to train and work with their dogs and be responsible for what the dog does.
Some need to be put down becasue they have a problem but I do not see any specific breed that is just bad.

BSL is stupid. there is a movement in a nearby community trying to outlaw pits led by a family of a man who was attacked badly by 3 pits. I feel sorry for them, but this is not the answer. Of course, the dogs were owned by one of the most white trashiest couples you'd ever see on the news. They are 100% responsible for that attack. Irrisponsible owners are not going to care about some new law, as they don't care about being responsible owners now. kind of like conceal and carry gun laws, criminals aren't going to worry about permits or if it's legal, they're going to carry no matter what. also, they're easy to get around. i worked as a groomer with another community a mile away that outlawed pits, and many people owned them anyway. they simply said they were a different breed.

on another level, BSL is not necessary for your pet to be murdered due to breed. a gentlemen i used to work with had a beautiful, loving, pit, (this was in an area where pit bulls were allowed) and he had it chained in his backyard one day while he left for some reason. police came and served a warrant at a next door house. they shot and killed his dog, and even took the body. another neighbor witnessed the incident, and told the owner that they never went on his property, the dog never threatened them, that he even tried to go tell them the dog was gentle when he realized what they were about to do. the police never tried to notify the owner, apparently thinking he'd come home thinking the dog was stolen or something, and when confronted, they claimed the dog had "endangered" them.

so sorry for the long post, i feel strongly on this topic. there are alternatives to just simply outlawing "dangerous" breeds.

BSL is a bunch of BS! I own a Rottie and he has the sweetest disposition of any dog I've ever been in contact with. I also have a scar right next to my right eye from a different breed...a toy poodle! Damn ankle biter almost took out my eye! You can't judge a breed by size or stereotype. There are a lot of bad breeders out there but if you are careful about where you purchase your pet, you shouldn't run into any problems.

Nope. It's prejudice in a four-legged form. I've met so many sweet dogs that were labeled as vicious on some list or another, and it's simply sad. What *should* be banned is allowing people to take home a dog without proper training and education for themselves first.

But, cities have to pander to the populace, and there are breeds that make people more nervous than others do... You'd have trouble doing it any other way yourself, if you were a politician. It's a shame...

BSL is alive and kicking interior the united kingdom, and sure, it truly is all incorrect. and extra, we've a great gray section now with the aid of fact people have been attempting to get around this law re Pit Bulls, by making use of breeding them with Staffies. So any Pit-Bull/Staffie sort dogs is being targetted now too. i'm horrified that the Rottie is being banned in Australia. Breeders/followers must be weeping!

i think its complete bs...i think its the owners not the dogs...I currently have a pitbull, rottweiller and a great dane and all three are complete sucks who would never hurt anyone!!..Where i live all pitbulls have to be muzzled and spayed or neutered ..on our walks we have been attacked 3 times by off leash dogs..two were golden retreivers and one was a husky...i have also witnessed a 5 pound dog put 7 stitches in a boys face....

Can you honestly say that some breeds (I am assuming you are a pit bull owner) are not more dangerous than others?

No, BSL does not do anything to stop the real problem.

No, it's wrong...I understand that some dogs may be dangerous, but it's not their fault, & therefore should not be killed just for that...
