we're looking for unusual, but normal sounding, like our first son's name is Dade. We have a couple names but are still up in the air about them and if there could be one we like better. Our names are either: Roan Jayce or Jayce Philip.... our last name is Nelson.

For David J and babyshadow, you guys are jerks. First we're not poor trying to sound like we're in the country club set..duh and babyshadow, do a spell check, you sound like a dumb hick, have you ever heard of Dade County Florida? Or the movie Hackers, where one of the main characters names is Dade and he ends up hooking up Angelina Jolie, in the movie, and real life. Names define who we are, and normal everyday names doom your children to normalcy, nothing but background music. Dade stands out, because it's not a name you hear often, and to the rest of you, How is Jayce trendy? I have yet to hear any famous person, model or anyone in the public eye with that name. Just because I'm asking for name help DOES NOT mean you people get to be RUDE. KEEP YOUR OPINIONS TO YOURSELF. JUST NAME SUGGESTIONS. THANK YOU.

Oh yeah and babyshadow, if your boys names are SOOOO unteaseable, why didn't you state what they are, maybe I'd like one of them?

I have to ask: Your Yahoo name to me reads Crazy Chica. Maybe my Hispanic bias showing, but if you are a "chica" why would you saddle your boy with such a white-bread middle-class boring suburban name like Jayce or Roan. Sounds like a name of some soap-opera character! It is way too "this decade" and your kid will hate it when he grows up.
If you insist on Jayce, at least spell it in the masculine form of 'Jace'. Spelled with a 'y' is very girlie...ex. Jayde, Jaye, Jaylene, etc.
Phillip is a great name, why not a traditional first name and then, if you insist on a white surburban name, use it for the middle name that way the kid can hide it when he fills out his resume after college. BTW, do you know what the term 'roan' refers to? It's a horse with a mottled-brown coat! Think about that.
My answers: Phillip is a great name. I'm sure that yours or the father's grandfather's names would be great names too. Don't play around and be trendy with your child's name. Name your pet anything you want but stay traditional with people please!

I'm curious what Dade's middle name is.

If you are going unusual why even use Philip?

Roan is a good one.

Jayce does sound a bit feminine as someone else mentioned.

Short names seem to sound masculine also.

I like Roan by I don't like Jayce. It's way to trendy and he'll hate it when he's older and personally I think it's a little feminine. I like names like Rhys (Reese spelled differently), Matthias, Hannigan, Dalton, & Liam...hope this helped!
