The Council on American-Islamic Relations (based in Washington, D.C.) is giving away a free book (Muhammad - By Yahiya Emerick, which I've read and gives a nice, concise story of Muhammad) or free DVD (PBS Special: Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet). Go to that above website. You get your choice for free. Muslims and other sponsors have donated the funds to give any person their choice of either one. Shipping/handling is also free I believe. They started this initiative to teach people about Muhammad after the cartoon controversy.

Mohammed is a Prophet. Mohammed is a human selected by God to become a messanger.
He says what God instructs him to say and acts as we all do as human. He got married, had a boy and a girl, laughs and gets angry. Also he worked to make a living.
Ofcourse he was the ultimate Muslim to be a role model for Mankind.
To better understand the person, you need to understand his beliefs, values and then go through his accomplishments.

Look under fiction at your local library. Mhoammed is probably just as mythical as Jesus, Abraham, Moses, David, or any religious symbolls.
