You have the perfect dining set for a nice brick or maroon color my cousin is into Victorian decorating, and she has her whole house in a brick\maroon color and it looks beautiful, very elegant, comfortable, and hand prints, dust, or whatever doesn't shoe up as easily.Good Luck!

By the look of your picture, your dining room is very plain and you have nice dark furniture, so I would suggest that you do one wall a different colour from the others, but do a nice warm colour like peaches or pinks which ever you prefer. So the wall with the mirrors do a little darker than the other three and maybe get a nice chairrail painted the dark stain like your furniture, or even a nice wall border and put it about 1/2 way up from the floor all around the walls. Good luck, hope you get lots of suggestions.

Personally, I would make 1 wall a feature wall by painting it a little brighter than the other 3. My suggestion to you to choose the colors for all 4 walls would be to go to www.hgtv.com and click on the dream homes. When you see a color you like on the walls, click on it and it will tell you exactly the brand it is and the name of the color. Also, try picking up the Ralph Lauren brouchures in the Home Depot paint section and bring them home to think about it! -they have some great ideas in the pamphlets and they already have the colors pre-coordinated for you. I would go with a warm, buttery tannish-soft yellow, then rag a suttle brown-tinted glaze over it for the 3 walls, then, for the feature wall, first choose a fabric print for the window treatments (which you need) and pull your favorite (bolder) color out of them for the feature wall.
But don't stop there-use your window treatment fabric to re-upholster your chair seats, and before doing THAT, sand and stain your table & chairs a richer color & seal w/ polyurathane!
(not expensive to do, but creates a BIG impact!)

Girl, you NEED to do something with this room! First check and see what colors you have flowing from the adjoining rooms. You don't want anything drastically different. I would suggest you get a piece of fabric, or a printed pillow, a piece of art and "pull" your colors (at least 3 of them) from that piece. It works like a charm planning your color pallet. Use the coolest color on the walls and accent with the other two. Come one....take the plunge! It will great! OHHH...do not put up wallpaper or borders. They are dated and a pill to get off at a later date!

Assuming you want to keep the placemats I would go with a light sage green on the walls with a bit of texture. Then I would find a beautiful sage and rose fabric and use it to recover ths chairs and as curtains. I like the mirrors, and the wood is nice.. An oriental rug under the table with those colours in it and you are done.

Try a darker color, like Maroon or Wine. This will accent the place-mats and the dark wood and black seats. This will create a darker room, so add candles, assent lighting, and lighter curtains to brighten things up, also consider earth tone (Tan/White/Beige) place settings. The Mirrors work, but try to add some other decorations as well, maybe a picture or candle holders.

Well with all your dark furniture and picture frames, I would go to a complimentary color of dark brown. Check out "wise owl" color, it is a light tan. Or you could do ivy green or marigold yellow. It's not much of a room to work with, so look at what is around it and how the wall paint would affect nearby rooms or furniture. (Like if you ever moved something into that room.)

You have really nice wood and furniture. I agree with the idea of painint it deep red, perhaps brick red........make sure to use at least a satin finish to reflect light well since that color can be dark. ANother thought is a marigold color..........
