When I go out (parties are worse than gigs and clubs) I can't help drink too much. Thing is when i'm drinking I don't feel drunk its only the next day when i realise what I've said/done and when I feel sick. My friend suggests not mixing my types of alcohol like spirit, beer etc but as the night goes on I find i don't care what it is. I need to stop this as OMG i have revealed some embarrassing stuff.

I have this exact same problem. Once you start drinking you just can't stop because you think you're alright. What I find works here (though you need a bit of will power) is to alternate your drinks. Start of with a bottle/glass of the tipple of your choice (only one type all night mind. mixing your drinks is deadly) and then have a bottle/glass of a soft drink and carry on like this. This should keep you to the point of only being slight tipsy for most of the night. Then, wait till you've only got an hour or so before going home, and if you feel alright move on to the alcohol for the rest of the night. This can be a bit risky but usually works.

If you can't control it, you have a drinking problem. Call Alcoholics Anonymous.
And if you just thought, "I'm not that bad - I'm not an alcoholic!", just remember that so did every member that's been through their program. Sit back and think about it, and look at the link below. You've already admitted to items 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, and 25, and you're trying #13 with this question.

Only time and experience will help you with this one. Most of the advice given is good advice but like you say, you don't care when you've had a few.
The more times you do or say something embarrassing or black out the more reasons you'll have to get a grip of the problem and only then will the advice mean something.
We've all done some terrible things when smashed and eventually learn ed from our mistakes.
I'm in my 30's and still have the occasional miss hap when I've drunk too much. It's part of life... don't worry too much. You'll get there.
When you've got no friends and you are lying in a pool of your own sick pissing yourself...remember. YOU WENT TOO FAR!!!

First - work out why you drink so much. Common reasons are 1) To loosen up 2) To relate better to your peers 3) To give yourself confidence in a crowd.
Once you establish why you drink to excess - analyse whether booze is REALLY helping you. I mean, yes, it gives you false confidence... but confidence to loosen your inhibitions and do things you regret!!
The best thing to do is to select a drink that is hard to gulp down. Like a tart, dry wine. Sip away, and then the next drink you order should be a soft drink. Also keep nibbling at bar snacks. This will hopefully slow down your pace so you can keep better tabs on how much you are drinking.
Ask your friends to keep an eye on you too.
If you get to feel that it is a real problem, maybe consider joining the AA. There is no stigma in it, many people join just to give them a bit of a helping hand in getting over any issues with booze!

I always do the same you know you get tipsy and then it seems to go down easyer and before you know it you just want another drink and you get really screwed . Mixing types of alcohol does get you more drunk for sure i just stick to pints of Guinnuis or Bodingtons / Kilkeny etc . Spirits irritate my stomach and are worse for your liver ( after a few beers i dont usually give a brass monkey lol ) . You just need to learn when to say stop but its hard because its more fun to get as screwed up as possible without being sick lol .

Eat a sandwich or toast before you go out and drink a glass of milk. the food will soak up some of the alcohol and the milk will line your stomach so you dont feel ill in the morning. you should not mix your drinks either ask your friends to help you watch what you are drinking.

You need to learn what your limit is and when you get there, SLOW DOWN. Pace yourself throughout the night...it isn't a race!
Not mixing beer and alcohol is a good idea because you can obviously drink beer a lot faster than alcohol.

Try a limit. Set it below what you would first think. Then if you could have drank more, then next time out, up the limit a drink or whateve. Or take those chaser pills, supposed to help with the hangover. Or eat real healthy the day before

I've been there. If you're like me, just keep drinking for the next few years until you hit this combination: you're fat and ugly, you realize you should work out, you're bored of not remembering the night before, and your friends that weren't blacking out every time they went out are in stable relationships and all of a sudden don't have time for you. I've managed to cut those nights back to twice a week since I hit that point. Good luck!!
